Not yet, there's still very few cases in my area, but that could change down the track. If necessary, testing is a lot easier to come by here, though unless things change, I may miss out on testing when the time comes, because I don't have a high risk contact profile (i.e. haven't been overseas, or in contact with someone who has, or in a hotspot or in medical work). Only thing that might get me over the line is if something happens while on a fire call.

Sometimes a sore throat is a sideline effect of a bad cough, or crud
from a sinus infection causes you to constantly clear your throat. A
seriously dry throat can also causes soreness due to lack of moisture.

In the latter situations a humidifier is nice to have.

I think what you have is seasonal allergies, if it were COVID-19 2 to 5 days you'd have a fever of 102 - 104 and persistant headaches, My wife and I have the postnasil drip, allergy meds seem to wipe it out pretty good, then I also take a shot of 90 proof Ezera Brooks wiskey each night, may not help but makes me feel all warm and fuzzy :)

According to my doctor, the fever is the key symptom.

When I went in for my 6 month BP check, they took my temp (which they never did before). It was to check if I was possibly infected - if so, they would room me differently.

But that's only 1 symptom. Based on the last data that I saw, upwards of 80% who get it won't even show any symptoms. There's even a possibility that many of us got it in December and have already fought it off.

That's why some doctors are calling for random checking to see how many people have the anti-bodies in their blood.

Basically a fever is the #1 most common symptom. followed by dry cough (not a lot of phlegm), followed by a hardening of the lungs, which causes the breathing issues that have killed so many and put so many more on ventilators.

Other common symptoms are a loss of smell/taste (or an altering of it. A guy I know has it, and he said everything smells/tastes like it's bathed in some kind of chemical), along with body aches/joint pain.

well it's a waste of money and resources to test people just because they want to know. i would suggest just acting like you do have the virus if you have concerns.

the people who are dying are at risk. at one of my jobs a coworker has a nephew in his early 30s who wrote his will last week and is not expected to make it. it's possible this person had preexisting conditions but they didnt ask.

so if you are at risk, err on the side of caution.

I got a flu shot once in 1999 and immediately got one of the worst flus I ev had. The irony is that my employer paid for it, and I had to stay home from work since I was so sick.

my mom worked in healthcare and had to get the flu shots and other shots.
she got the flu atleast once per year.

I hate to be the one to tell you that this is correlation and not causation. Scientifically the flu vaccine is incapable of giving someone a flu. Furthermore, the flu vaccine doesn't vaccinate against strains of flu that
give a tummy ache or runny nose; it's a vaccine against the really intense strains which tend to be the most deadly.

the people who are dying are at risk. at one of my jobs a coworker has a nephew in his early 30s who wrote his will last week and is not expected make it. it's possible this
person had preexisting conditions but they di ask.

I have a co-woker who had it (tested positive), recovered, and then died a w later of a heart attack. It appears the virus attacks the heart. He was not risk", had no preexisting
    conditions and in his 50's.

well now they are saying that there can be heart damage due to the immune system's response to the infection. inflammatory response of cytokines.

No one dies from the virus. People die from the complications of the virus. So if we can't develop a vaccine soon, why not work on medications that lessen the impact of infection so that people can develop their own anti-bodies. To me this is the ideal approach. My questions are rhetorical.

I agree with this statement. They mentioned here a couple of weeks ago
that they were not testing everyone because they didn't want people who got
a negative test to act as if everything was ok after because they could
still catch it. They want everyone to remain vigilent.

I agree in most cases, but some of them lately have not fit the bill as far
as the age risk. A few of them have only been < 5 years older than I am,
and I am not even 50 yet. The first person in our state to get sick, and really sick, was only 27 years old. She did recover, but she was in
hospital on a ventilator for several days.

    2. Send everyone else back to work and have them get on with their lives.

Some people will get sick. They will get over it, or not. Just like any other disease. But we will quickly develop herd immunity. The virus will die out and the high risk can rejoin our society - at the same risk that they had before COVID-19.
