Hi there, everyone. I just wanted to take a minute to say hello to everybody. I haven't been in the community for about 4 years now, when a hardware failure when I was still living in Portland ended up taking down my old system. I've got a different handle now, but I'm familiar with the scene. :)
It's really good to see [almost] everybody carrying on the way they used to. I know I did see one name that might have to go in the block list right away, though. Ah the good old days. At least I'm losing my taste for flame wars as I age. Heh.
I'd invite y'all to come and check out my system, but I'm afraid that I've only done the first bits of configuration on it and it's still almost 100% stock. I intend to do some further development of the shell that I was working on some time back here but I'm really not sure if I'm going to go to the trouble of trying to pry my aesthetically blind eye open far enough to be able to make some semi-decent ANSI art again or anything of the sort. Times have changed a bit for me, and with my son being older now, it's important that I'm a good wage slave, which keeps me too exhausted for throwing 110% into this like I did before. One thing that I will be doing is going back up on FIDO at some point soon here, though, so maybe some people will remember me by my full name when I'm back on there again.
So what's been up for the past 4 years, everybody? Has anything major transpired? I'm seeing a lot of nice new Synchronet bells & whistles and I know that installation on it was a lot easier this time around than it had been before. Though, of course, I'm sure part of that was because I'm putting it on a Linux box this time instead of an OpenBSD one. ;)

It certainly is, especially when life conditions make meeting other people IRL a real pain in the ass. I'm far too social of a creature to be without other human contact for so long. Virtual/text-based is better than nothing, por dios.

Nah you never made me quit forever. Hardware failure made me take a nice long break, though. The only thing you made me do was figure out what 'twitlist.cfg' was for. Which you've just done again, and I thank you for it.
By the way, as you said in one of your other messages, there _is_ more to my story about why I'm not getting work in IT, and frankly it's going to stay private. So very insightful of you. I appreciate the thought into my predicament.
