• The Pauper

From Zoohouse@VERT to All on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 13:40:00
Greetings and good day to all!

    A Quick Introduction
    --------------------
I am new to BBSes and enjoying the experience. I am probably younger then most of you by, oh I don't know, 10-30 years perhaps. I came online in 1997 and I am part of the AOL generation, so I missed out on the BBS scene. Regardless, here I
am in late 2019 and enjoying my self with all of you.

    The Pauper
    ----------
There is a person which I will refer to as The Pauper. I am sure you have run into this individual on Dove-Net. He is hard to miss.

The Pauper appears to be an emotionally ill person to some and to others he is nothing more than a troll. Regardless, the general consensus points towards The Pauper being a person seeking controversy.

Many conversations on Dove-Net are being overtaken by the stench of The Pauper. Yes, his putrid funk is really doing a number on us all. How is this man's smelly B.O. being amplified, you may ask?

Simple, we continue to engage The Pauper in conversation, namely, the type of conversation he is seeking.

Ladies and gentlemen, you can NOT wash away The Pauper's stench with sound arguments. You can NOT brush his toothless gums with insults. You can NOT wash out the grime from his bushy grey eyebrows with threats. No, my friends, it is not possible. The Pauper will simply laugh and reply with his greasy sausage fingers and we will only be met with more frustration.

    What Can You Do?
    ----------------
All hope is not lost my friends!

There IS something we all can do to defeat this foul pauper. In these desperate times we must let go of our differences. Let Republicans and Democrats wave the same flag, let those people of faith and non-believers find common agreements, let VIM and Emacs users come together and share an editor. Yes! Let us all join together in a great cause to oust the reek from among us.

We all know what attracts the fly to the hot turd pile. It is the smell. Likewise, the bug-eyed pauper is attracted by attention. Get rid of the attention and the bushy eyebrow attentionphile will have no reason to stay.

    - When The Pauper writes a post, ignore it. When The Pauper replies to your
    post, ignore it.

    - When The Pauper retaliates to you because you are ignoring him, ignore it.

    - When The Pauper becomes desperate and lies about your intentions, ignore it.

A flasher comes back when you react to his nude body. The Pauper comes back when
you react to his off putting comments. Don't let The Pauper come back.

Do your part and stand for what is right. By turning our attention to the real conversation and ignoring him we will teach The Pauper that his behavior will not be accepted. He will learn that there are consequences to being a nuisance.

    Don't Fall in His Traps
    -----------------------
Without a doubt The Pauper's oily head will certainly turn-up and reply to this post.

He will complain. He will make false accusations. He may say horrible and hateful things. He might point out typos or grammatical problems with this or other posts. Do not fall for his trick my friends.

No matter what he says about you or another person, no matter what he says about
a topic, we should all reply to his stale breath with SILENCE.

I know there will be a temptation to reply. Do not do it. A reply, of any kind, will only keep The Pauper around longer than we care for.

Together we can overcome this threat, my friends.

    What say ye?

I say we hit him, we kick him, then we stab and shoot him then we hang him and drag him behind a pickup truck then we burn him at the stake.
    that ought to do it.

I'm reminded of the scene in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure where someone at the bar says something like that, and then Pee-Wee says "I say we let him go!"

    TLDR:
If everyone will just stop talking about/to him he will leave on his own. The only reason he sticks around is because people keep adding fule to the fire by replying to his stupidity.

Glad I wasn't on that one - I even read it in Pee Wee voice through clenched teeth.
