here's something to think about... a BBS is like the operator's home.
No, it's not.
Might not be now, and might not have ever been to some, but to others is
sure is. Back in the day when PCs cost a lot more than they do now, a lot
of times the BBS was not the only thing that one used their PC for. Some people are/were paranoid about who might be logged on to their PC from
remote, probably for similar reasons as one could be paranoid about using
their real names these days.
With SBCs, dedicated machines, and virtual machines, it is quite different
now.
