I just bought a Motorola G6 Forge on Cricket Wireless; it's apparently physically the same as the G6 Play, but I think the Play has 32 GB of storage instead of the 16 on the Forge.

I'm happy with it - a 4000 MAH battery lasts 2 days. It's quite a bit faster than my old Samsung S5, and Wi-Fi calling, the main reason I bought the phone, is a game changer for me, as my home reception has gotten spotty of late.

I was looking for a phone with 3+GB/32GB storage, but this doesn't feel
    limited at all.

One nice thing is that the OS is pretty sparse. There's a Morotola launcher, some crapware that could be uninstalled instead of being baked into the ROM, and Google apps for most of the apps that Samsung added their own apps.

I'm old school, wanted a phone with MicroUSB and a headphone jack.

It was $100 at Target, no contracts or hidden charges.

One thing that bums me about Oreo is that you can't move apps to a SD card configured as portable storage. You could do so with Nougat. When I tried reformatting my card as internal storage I could move apps, but it took 60 GB of the card as storage needed for the OS. Bummer.

That's cool. It's good to know there are phones that can perform well enough for a decent price. I'd like to have wi-fi calling, and I think my phone (Samsung S7) could supposedly support it, but I think that depends on what carrier you use. I've heard of Sprint making wifi calling available, but I use Virgin Mobile, and my phone doesn't have a wifi calling option.

That's a bummer. I remember that being an often-requested feature in early versions of Android, and then they added that in later versions of Android. Come to think of it, I don't think I can move apps to the SD card on my phone now either. It's always frustrating when they remove features.. There are a couple of other features I used that have been removed in recent updates on my phone - Custom text notification sounds for individual contacts, and a separate button in the clock to turn off an alarm for the day so you can stop hitting 'snooze' (now, I have to turn the alarm off and back on again in order to do the same thing).

I don't think I have WiFi calling with my carrier either, but I just use the Google Hangouts Dialer app to make WiFi calls using Google Voice. The phone number shown ends up being my Google Voice number, but it works otherwise.
I may have mentioned that to you before. Sorry if I did.

Perhaps, WiFi calling is better? I suppose WiFi calling traffic may be prioritized. So whether GV is beneficial to anyone other than myself remains to be seen.

GV useful to me, because it gives my phone a second number that I can use
for professional things (one could use it on a resume for prospective employers)
The GV number can also be used to receive SMS's via the Hangouts app as well. This has been useful in instances with certain sites SMS 2FA not making it through to my actual mobile number due to carrier issues.

I'm sold! Assuming you can place a SIM card in there and my wireless
provider will let me bring in my own phone.

Umm... nevermind, then. I only have a 32GB SD card. Although, I did think about getting a 128GB SD card at some point. Ever since I got an Apple
Music subscription, I've been downloading a lot of albums lately, and I
    have 9GB free.

I have Google Voice as well, and I love it. I barely knkw my cell phone's direct number, since I only give out my Google Voice number.

I've mentoned this before, I have my Google Voice set up where my Google
Voice number shows up for inbound calls, and I have call screening on for others outside of my contact groups. That alone, along with their spam
filter, has stop a good majority of unwanted calls (e.g. scams and telemarketing). I, also, get the ability to record incoming calls if I need
    it.

So... Yes! Google Voice has been very useful for me.

    Mine's Cricket-branded, if I didn't want Cricket's wifi calling I'd buy a G6 Play for $100 more with 3 GB/32GB of RAM.

Umm... nevermind, then. I only have a 32GB SD card. Although, I did think about getting a 128GB SD card at some point.

Memory is getting cheaper - I just upgraded to a 200 gb card for fifty something dollars - just gotta jump when the sales happen.

And it's like the one legacy service that Google hasn't killed.
I've had a GV number forever. I initially obtained it to use with
an OBI VOIP box, but it's been useful to me way beyond that scope.

I do not use it as my main number yet, as I've always worried about them
ending the service. It's still up and running after all these years,
so I guess it's not going anywhere.

I thought about putting my GV number on my resume instead of my cell
number. I'm in spotty coverage at home, and until I bought a wifi-calling capable phone was missing calls at my house. I'd be staring at my phone,
then see my voicemail app (which connects over the 'net, not via the cell network) beep.
