What are these people you refer to? The ratio of users to sysops is quite low these days, but it doesn't stop us from enjoying the scene.

Check your origin line, you're advertising a private address that's not accesible outside of your local network.

Thanks! Nice to meet you as well! I ran a Commodore BBS called Hard Core BBS from 89-93 using UCBBS, and then bought an IBM Compatible and ran WWIV for a few years. I really miss those early days. I'm glad to have come across Synchronet. It's a great program, though it's going to take me a while to get the BBS where I want it. I'm still having trouble with the Internet Email for some reason, but I'll eventually figure it out.

It's nice to see that there is still a large market for BBS's. Recent privacy issues is what made me start to think about them again, and so I did some research only to find that there is still life in the BBS after all.

Looking forward to checking out the Amiga boards. I had an A500 as well as well back in the day.

Well, I'm glad you asked actually. I think "people" in general are kind of fed up when it comes to the lack of privacy on the internet, and also the censorship coming from many of the large tech companies. While I realize now that the BBS never did actually die, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much life there still is in them.

There isn't true privacy with a BBS either, and there never really was in the first place. With that said though there is something to the "local" part of Specialty BBS's that give like minded people a place to talk without being reported. Many people today might find the venue kind of attractive in that respect. Hey, it got me thinking about them again. LOL I'm a bit strange, but surely I'm not the only one out there.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll get that taken care of.

the best way to be private on the internet is to not share your personal information or say/do anything you wouldnt want repeated by someone else

True, but while I had/have users their information, never but I mean never it came in my mind to sell this information, which companies do nowadays, even government departments. Which is really weird imho.

With all the administrative crap about facebook such as the arbitrary regulations, it makes wanting to keep a mail reader bbs more inviting.
