My terminal has functionality for 'ANSI Music'. I've looked on the files for any music but couldn't find any.
Anyone know how I can find some?

I have a handful of these in my BBS's text files section at guardian.synchro.net. Probably should hunt down some more.

I also have a RPG-style ANSI tile demo that plays a Nintendo-esque sound effect if you grab a jewel.

the program melody master can export to ansi music. there's a bunch of samples of beatles ,etc songs.

Those are actually amazing. Do you think it would be possible to incorporate that kind of stuff into a MUD? Ex: "You see an orc" *ANSI image of green orc with club* "Orc attacks you for 4 damage" *ANSI battle music*

Oh, I'm sure it is. The main limitation is time.

One thing I've learned putting together these demos of different techniques is just how labor-intensive they can be. That's one of the reasons I've never managed to cook up a complete game built around any of them.

My newest demo is a short Star Trek / holiday ANSImation with a cool transporter effect I cooked up. The code looks at the characters in the layer behind a sprite to figure out how to make it look like it's fading in. It is included in yesterday's brand-spanking-new Blocktronics release.

But anyone who's interested can also watch the real thing on my BBS. It's dynamic, so the effect is rendered in realtime.
