I've seen online forum software that has a similar poll/voting feature. Some people like it, and I guess some don't. The cool thing is you have the freedom to not participate in them or even reply to them if you aren't into it..

I've seen online forum software that has a similar poll/voting feature.
Some people like it, and I guess some don't. The cool thing is you have the freedom to not participate in them or even reply to them if you aren't into it..

i thought i disabled it but maybe a backup restored it.

i think it's a good idea to just have a separate msg sub for voting, like smb ---

For me, it makes more sense on a forum (one advantage of the one size fits all interface). On BBSs, there's so many different possibilities - online vs offline, local vs remote, QWK vs FTN networking, vs NNTP, Synchronet vs non Synchronet, etc.

Wouldn't a BBS messagebase be considered a 'forum'? A forum is simply a place where messages are exchanged. I'm not sure that the specific technical aspects of how you read the messages matter a whole lot in that sense.

Not in the conventional usage, web forums are known to be a specific type of system. When it comes to new features like voting, how one accesses the system can matter, because it's possible that some access methods don't have the functionality. How do you vote if you read mail offline for instance?
