Ok I know we all got into some heated discussions with the flame wars topic but we all moved along and mostly got away from the trolling aspect of it.
Yes things were said that went a little to far but we all came close to middle ground.
I was on another board yesterday reading a post between Dayrl and Tim and apparently they no longer poll this message board and they twitlisted us because they said we are trolls, wich is funny because Tim was the one that basically said I was an Idiot and went on to demean me because I support Trump.
But because we called both of them on some of the things they said they melted down like the fragile snowflakes they are and stopped participating.
I mean thats ok but if you dish it out you should be able to be tough enough to get some back.
I wish I had their Addresses so I could send them both some Play Dough and coloring books.
But anyway the posts here went way down when they left lol.
I know we all need to be more tollerant of view points that others have, and sometimes we devolve down to flamming on the boards.
but most of us seem to realize that we are all diverse and all of us have a right to our own points of view and we move on from the bumps in the road that we hit, some of the bumps were potholes but we climed out of them and continued our journey down the road.
It's ok that Tim and Dayrl moved on because snowflakes need a safe space where they can be protected fron any and all heat so they don't melt.
the rest of us are diamonds and can take alot of heat before we melt.

    I noticed that.

So obviously I don't think college kids need coloring books or petting zoos or whatever. But I'm also fairly sure part of the reason they do these things is that suicides make them look terrible. Believe it or not the military does this too -- I've seen it - usually in the form of Chaplain led programs. Yes, I laughed at all of them, but they do have a reason. It's because suicides and drinking too much because they can't cope with stress is... well... not so uncommon.

I agree, we did settle down a bit. And it will take a lot more than that little flare up to get rid of me. :D Back in 1993, I did take part in an online debate/flame war that raged for 6 months. :)

Yes things were said that went a little to far but we all came close

It's good when debates end up with some sensible agreement somewhere in the middle, with agreement to disagree on the rest. :)

Well, on Trump, we'll agree to disagree. Though one view of Trump down here, is that he's like chemotherapy - the toxic medicine America needs to cure an otherwise untreatable "cancer". It's interesting how different US politics looks from within and outside the USA. It was the same in the Obama days, and same now in the Trump era. Maybe we need to swap places to really understand that. :)

I'm just going to be flat out honest, and I'll probably get called names or attacked... I just don't care if I do.

I never like Trump in the very beginning, and I was a Never-Trumper until at the last minute when I got to the polls for the general election. I voted for Dr. Ben Carson during the primary Republican election becauae I agreed with his a lot of his thoughts and he has a very meek/humble (as far as I can tell) personallity/attitude. I guess more Republicans liked Trump blasting the media and other candidates than I did.

When I came to the the general election, I was (kind of) for Gary Johnson because I didn't like the top 2 options: Trump or Clinton. Sadly, I ended up voting out stragey over principle. High insight, I should have stuck with voting out of principle instead of strategy; my vote wouldn't have mattered anyways.

People keep saying your vote doesn't matter if you aren't voting for one of the 2 major candidates. But as long as people keep following that advice, of course the 2nd-party votes won't matter.. Seems to me that everyone should vote for who they really want, not for who they think is going to win.

I am not at all praising our two party system, but for the last several elections the votes were VERY CLOSELY split, like 48%/52%. We need to accept the reality that the first party to split into factions is going to become permanently irrelevant.

My vote mattered, and I did not vote for Hillary or Trump. But, thanks to state that hates having Republicans on the ballot will now have to give equal time
to a 3rd-party (if they want it), too, for the next 4 or so years.

I am not at all praising our two party system, but for the last several elections the votes were VERY CLOSELY split, like 48%/52%. We need to accept the reality that the first party to split into factions is going to

Let's not forget, the LAST election was SO CLOSE that Hillary actually got the most votes..... so..... THAT'S how close it is. It's so close it's actually backwards.

But if the 30% of the country who still approve of Trump's record want to split off from the Republicans and start their own party, that sounds great. I hope that happens. We can work something out, surely. We can make a new country for the, where they can scream about how oppressed they are. We'll move some Palestinians around or something, it's worked before.

I cannot argue that. That looked like it would be the Democrats... Clinton Democrats and Sanders Democrats... but now, I am not so sure. They have something to be united against, for sure. :)

from what I'm seeing unless the Dems can swallow their pride and stop this temper tantrum they are having their party will continue to deteriorate.
they have lost over 20 seats in various positions throughout the USA this year.

i dont care if anybody blocks me but i miss daryl because i was going to ask him if god hates him because he has been struck my lightning 3x and has some many medical problems on top of other things his entire life.

havent seen him since he condemned me to hell.

He went completely silent after the Jesus rant and I thought he was either ashamed of himself, or he died.

They're pulling this crap in our colleges and universities as well. If you disagree with the latest liberal sudo-belief, you're opinions become lies. They need much more than coloring books and crayons to relieve their apparent opinion PTSD.

I'll tell you some wisdom that conservatives usually enjoy:

    Nobody cares about your opinions.

i think in australia you are subject to a lot of propaganda and sensationalism in regards to usa politics and other things.

Are you serious? In the United States we are subject to a lot of propaganda and sensationalism in regards to usa politics and other things.

    It works like this:

Nobody gives a fuck about your opinions, you're an idiot, and I can insult you and treat you however I want to, and if you don't just take it, then fuck you extra, because THEN it means you're weak, too. If you even get mad at me, fuck you, because you melt like a snowflake. You fucking snowflake.

That is how I see it playing out on the twitter...

Things I hear from Americans directly don't convince me of their point of view either.

We've recently done away with points of view altogether and have opted for fighting in the streets instead.

My theory is that through the power of social media, now almost everyone and not just an educated class who've read Sartre or whatever, have figured out that every possible opinion has an exactly opposite opinion that goes with it.

Everyone has the power of media now, but notnecessarily the skill and wisdom to use it well.
