Like it or lump it, Microsoft is making damn sure you're going to be running Windows 10 in the next 12 months.

I was a windows 8 Beta Tester and a Windows 10 Beta tester, I really
hated Windows 8 untill they made 8.1 wich I'm ok with on my laptop.
For me Windows 10 was ok but I still prefer windows 7 pro and if they Force me to upgrade I may just switch all my Computers to Linux.
Been considering switching my BBS to Linux anyway, I already run my
Game servers on a Linux VPS for the past 5 years .
Microsoft has lost a good share of the server business now they may be pushing PC users away.

Really? Do you guys pick tag lines or is there some sort of randomize selection based on the content? :D
I really don't why Microsoft has been agressively pushing Windows 10 onto every one who does use Windows on their PC; and forcing updates onto
users. They, also, have begun to have more of their software to run other platforms like Mac OSX, and Linux (Visual Studio Code and SQL Server). They added the ability to run Linux software on Windows with Linux Subsystem for Windows. It makes wonder what the plan is. I've rumors that they may make Windows open source, and I heard rumors that they may do a subscription service for Windows; not sure what to believe at this point. Just seems like Microsoft took a really weird turn of direction with their software, and opened up some of their .NET framework (.MET Core). Ack, who knows?
That seems to be the case with a lot of computer savvy people: switching over to Linux because of being forced to use Windows 10.

I pick the tagline I want, I use slyedit (ext editor).

I've heard that Windows 10 tracks a lot of information.. There are settings that let you turn off some of its tracking (which
interestingly enough, disables Cortana, which is one of their main
selling points in Windows 10). But I've heard there might be tracking
that you can't turn off.. I'm not sure if there's truth to that or if it's just a conspiracy theory.
The Windows 10 upgrade was free for a while.. I'm really not sure what the uproar was all about with being given a free OS upgrade. And
what's funny is if you look at Mac OS X users vs. Windows users, OS X users are always happy to have an OS upgrade, but when Windows users
get offered an upgrade, they're pissed off..

I don't mind it, though I find the categorisation of their start menu gets in the way a bit, because I now have to guess what categories apps are in, instead of simply looking through the list alphabetically.
You can still get a free upgrade through other Microsoft channels.

I actually downloaded the windows 10 iso so if I change my mind I can go back to using windows 10, I just like the windows 7 interface better and I hate being forced to chande OS's by MS.
I have been also using Linux for years so going to linux for me would be easy. I just have allot invested in windows programs and some cannot be run using wine.

I prefer the Windows 7 interface too. The user interfaces in Windows and OS X have both gotten more flat and monotone, which I think is uglier.. I'm not really sure why they wanted to go that direction.

mike ehlert told me that if you turn on your disability stuff you get
the notification to download win10. it worked for me but the install bombed. ---

Windows 7 is one of the better Windows interfaces. No doubt, I will get used to Windows 10 as I use it more.

Windows interfaces get more complicated, and I like the earlier, more streamlined interfaces. When XP came out, I liked the sparseness of my Windows 95 VM. Now that I'm running Windows 10 on my systems, my son's laptop running Windows 7 feels like 95 used to feel.
95 was a significant improvement when it came out, though I think I'd have to give the points to XP and 7 for various reasons. Vista was similar, though 7 was an improvement in subtle ways.

I think peoples' big complaint about Vista was that it used too much memory and hard drive space. I think Windows 7 improved on that a bit.

Yes, but Vista did run well if you threw hardware at it. :)
Vista always needed a fresh install after about 3 months.
it just seemed to get erratic after awhile, it looked good but windows 7 fixed alot of things that were so bad in Vista.

well that's a big harsh. i ran vista for a bit and didnt have any
problems other than it was a tad slower compared to win7.

I still have my original Vista installation from 9 years ago on another PC. Still works fine. I do agree, Windows 7 was an improvement. :) My Vista installation was a fresh 64 bit installation on a new PC. I know people who upgraded from XP had the most problems, far more than a clean installation had.

i guess windows vista had some problems with hardware drivers. i got
vista as a new install on a dual core republic of gamers laptop. i
didnt really suffer any issues.
