LOL - full circle - the snake is eating his own tail... :-)
That's like an amateur radio operator being cannibalistic...having
fried ham for breakfast, or ham sandwiches for lunch. ;)
Hey Daryl - sorry for being out of touch. How's the BBS upgrade going?

I have got Synchronet installed (too much trouble with Mystic), and Synchronet with its comport redirection feature allows me to put non-fossil doors online. I had to reset the user base, but I'm quickly upgrading "former users". The purge was also done, since many had not logged on in a long time.

Don't push her on it. When she is ready, she will let you know. Even
if you get licensed, she can still talk as "Third Party Traffic", until she passes her test, and gets a callsign of her own.
Go to http://www.wx1der.com/hamradio.htm@study for a list of 10 study options for a ham radio license. Some are free, and some (like Ham Test Online), charge a fee...but HTO offers a money back guarantee. As a
side note, the developer of Synchronet, Rob Swindell, is also a ham
radio operator, but I don't know his callsign offhand. In the
Synchronet Doors and Utilities category, there is a deal to take a practice test with each element of the ham radio license (Technician, General, and Amateur Extra). I realized how dumb I had become when I
tried the Technician exam. Believe me, if renewal meant re-testing, ham radio would have died off long ago.

At least now, you can get your callsign within a week or two after
you pass the exam. The FCC is no longer mailing out paper copies of the license...you have to go to the FCC ULS website to get it. But, it
beats the license getting LOST by the Postal Service (don't get me
started on the crap with the Postal Service). It used to be where you
had to have your license IN HAND before you could get on the air. Now, once it shows up in the FCC ULS, you are good to go. Believe me, a week
or two, beats the daylights out of waiting 3 to 6 months!!
