• Anyone Play Pinball?

    Title

Went to Allentown Pinfest a couple of weeks ago and got to play Stern's brand new Ghost Busters pinball. It's really good. Actually, the only Stern pinball I don't like is The Rolling Stones. Kiss is one of my favorites too.

Also at Pinfest was the new Rob Zombie pinball. It was funny though I was watching a group of 4 people playing and the machine glitched out and stopped keeping score.

Sounds fun. I always enjoyed playing pinball. For a while, I thought arcades would disappear due to home video gaming, and I thought pinball might
disappear along with arcades (at least, physical pinball machines). However, there are still some arcades in my area that are doing well. I don't get out to the arcades much, so I haven't had much chance to play pinball
    these days.

I've always wanted to play the Kiss pinball machine. I grew up a huge Kiss fan, so that was the holy grail to me. Even if I could get my hands on one now (I imagine it's a good chunk of change), I have no place to put it.
But I wouldn't mind playing it just to say I did lol.

Years ago, when I had AT&T as my ISP, through its rewards program, I
got a CD of "Lost World Pinball".

The scenario is this plane is flying over the ocean in a thunderstorm,
and is hit by lightning, and it crash lands on a volcanic island. The 2
men and one woman who emerge are stunned to see all sorts of prehistoric creatures (dinosaurs, etc.). You go through a set of 14 mazes, and if
you succeed (2 of them offer multi-ball play), you can escape the
island. It does offer "continue" options for hitting a certain set of
targets, where you can "continue" the game. It does take awhile to play, though.

It has an installation CD, and depending on the speed of the CPU, you
can do a large, medium, or small install...the latter for a fast system.

Would you happen to live in the Chicago area? They have Galloping Ghost, Underground Retrocade and Logan arcade out there.

Next big show coming up for me is ReplayFX in Pittsburgh

I joined a league in the spring. There's a club in the city that has 4 pinball machines. We played Whitewater, Star Trek, Rolling Stones and the Walking Dead. I finished in 6th place out of 12 players.

Summer league starts later this month which I'm looking forward to. They also have a head-to-head tournament once a month.

I don't.. I live in the Portland, Oregon area. There is at least one place I've heard of that has a bunch of arcade & pinball machines and has a free arcade night once a month. I haven't gone out there to see the place yet though..

The last time I was in Portland, Oregon, was in 1994, when the
National Square Dance Convention was out there...and I really enjoyed my
stay. Not to mention that there was "no sales tax" at the Burger King
where I usually ate lunch (it was right next to my hotel).

I remember in college that I spent a lot of time in the Student Union
playing pinball...I was never much for video games.

Intersting! I have a Pinball game on iPad that's VERY fun! Though I don't
play it all the time, it is VERY realistic!

Not having a sales tax is nice, but on the other hand, Oregon's state income tax adds a good amount of tax on top of the federal income tax. Sometimes
I've thought that living in Washington would have the advantage of no state income tax - They have a sales tax, but at least you can control how much you spend (to an extent). I'm sure sales tax on something like a car would hurt though..

I tell you what there is nothing else around here. If I want to play more than 4 pinball machines and arcade games I have to drive 45 minutes to an hour. It's an outrage.

In Arkansas, there are a lot of people who, in buying cars, list their address as Oregon, to try to get out of paying the state sales tax. The "temporary tags" are only good for 30 days, before an official state
    license plate is required.

However, I see a bunch of vehicles with long since expired temporary
tags. For that matter, I also see a bunch of vehicles with the "handicapped/disabled" hangtag still on the rear view mirror while they
are driving. Yet, it CLEARLY says that "hangtag must be removed before
    vehicle is in motion".

There ought to be a separate division to get these folks, and fine
them heavily...especially for leaving the hangtag on the rear view
mirror, as it blocks ones vision.
