• Slop Jars

From ALLEN PRUNTY@VERT/LIVEWIRE to DARYL STOUT on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 10:12:00
I'm pre-type 2 diabetic, but everything goes down when an EMP fries
all the electrical grids and electronic components. It'd be like going
back to the Stone Age, as it were. Thank goodness my toilet isn't electrical, or I'd have to use a "slop jar". :P

In the 1970's my Grandparents who lived near Mammoth Cave, Kentucky
still had outhouses. They had plumbing to the house, they had a
bathroom but still had the outhouses for when they worked outside in
their farm. They also had their Chamber Pots aka "Slop Jars" in the
bedrooms, clean and at the ready. They were the porceline coated metal
pots with the little red painted rim.

Now flash to 2011 and we had a potluck at work... granted it was a
technology company, level 3 had many young people there and was peppered
with us seasoned folk. One of the nice young ladies put down she was
bringing beans and was goning to cook them in an antique bean pot.

The day of the potluck she did bring in beans... in a metal pot coated
in porceline with the bright red rim complete with matching lid (she had
the deluxe slop pot) there were only about three of us who knew what
that thing was and NONE of us ate her beans... nor did we have the heart
to tell her what she actually had.

    Allen,

In the 1970's my Grandparents who lived near Mammoth Cave, Kentucky
still had outhouses. They had plumbing to the house, they had a
bathroom but still had the outhouses for when they worked outside in AP>their farm. They also had their Chamber Pots aka "Slop Jars" in the AP>bedrooms, clean and at the ready. They were the porceline coated metal AP>pots with the little red painted rim.

They talked about that on TNN's "Nashville Now" years ago (I don't
think that show is on anymore), and host Ralph Emery was coming unglued
    on the topic. :)

The day of the potluck she did bring in beans... in a metal pot coated
in porceline with the bright red rim complete with matching lid (she had AP>the deluxe slop pot) there were only about three of us who knew what
that thing was and NONE of us ate her beans... nor did we have the heart AP>to tell her what she actually had.

    ROFLMAO!!

    Daryl
