Podcasts are my primary way to listen to anything nowadays, which could
    be considered strange since I'm a singer/songwriter - musician/vocalist.

The current 'crop' of radio just doesn't pull me in. I do listed to
Willie's Roadhouse when I'm with my wife in her truck, but alone I
tune into some Americana podcasts but mostly gaming related (board,
RPG, minis) and some comic book.

i'm not a fan of podcasts. i even think the word 'podcast' is stupid.
there's too many people doing that stuff that dont know what they are doing. they dont know how to be interesting or put together a good show and they dont even have voices people would want to listen to.

i guess that's part of making stuff so easy that anybody can do it. anybody IS doing it.

I like community radio, where programs are produced by local people with an interest in what they're presenting, rather than trying to pick up ratings. I am involved in a local community station, which is a lot of fun.

As a matter of fact, no I don't, and no plans to change that. :)

What do you do for them? How did you get involved?

I mostly podcast a couple of programs, but do occasionally appear on air as a panel operator/presenter. Earlier today, I was pre-recording a show, because the normal presenter will be in hospital on the night (routine checkups), and I have an early start the next morning, with 4-5 hours of driving (the show is 8-11 PM Fridays). I'm more technical, and can work out the recording system in the secnod studio much faster. Recording went well, just waiting for confirmation from the gurus that it has been queued for playback. :)

As for how I got involved, I got to know a couple of presenters, and I suggested they needed to podcast their shows, and from there I gradually got more involved. :)

The station itself is at http://www.phoenix.org.au . There is a "listen live" link on the site

As for the shows that I podcast:

http://rainbowradio.podomatic.com/ - "Rainbow Radio" - LGBTI show - music, interviews, issues.

http://www.podcastgarden.com/podcast/ftlom - "For the Love of Music" - Music show with a difference. Each show has a theme, and listeners can request a song that fits the theme in the week leading up to the show.

http://www.podcastgarden.com/podcast/koorigrapevine - "Koori Shout Out" - Indigenous issues, interviews, etc.

http://realpeopleasd.podomatic.com/ - "Real People Talk Autism" - Talk show covering autism and related issues. This show has been in recess since September 2015, and there are a handful of podcasts online. I am considering options to put a longer archive online, as I have copies of all but one or two of the earlier shows.

This should give you an idea of the breath of programming on the station, and that's just a small sample!

All of the shows have a Facebook page too, you should be able to find the pages by searching for the name on Facebook.
