at work I listen to Podcasts for about 4 hours a day, Mostly tech Podcasts Like Linux Action Show, Podnuts, The Home Server show etc...
Today I found a new podcast called tech dorks and downloaded the first 3 episodes that will be my entertainment for tonight (I Work swing shift).
Two very familiar names host this show.
1.Digital Man a.k.a Rob (Synchronet) Swindell and a Can a Dian guy named Stephen (Duece) Hurd.
Looking forward to hearing the first 3 episodes tonight.
<smiles>
Hope you enjoy. And we plan to record more too. Soon.

Podcasts are my primary way to listen to anything nowadays, which could
be considered strange since I'm a singer/songwriter - musician/vocalist.
The current 'crop' of radio just doesn't pull me in. I do listed to Willie's Roadhouse when I'm with my wife in her truck, but alone I
tune into some Americana podcasts but mostly gaming related (board,
RPG, minis) and some comic book.

I like community radio, where programs are produced by local people with an interest in what they're presenting, rather than trying to pick up ratings. I am involved in a local community station, which is a lot of fun.

That's interesting. How do you have time to do all these things?! You
must not have kids yet ;)
What do you do for them? How did you get involved?

i'm not a fan of podcasts. i even think the word 'podcast' is stupid.
there's too many people doing that stuff that dont know what they are doing. they dont know how to be interesting or put together a good show and they dont even have voices people would want to listen to.
i guess that's part of making stuff so easy that anybody can do it. anybody IS doing it.

There is a station I try to tune in from time to time from across the river in Arkansas. They broadcast local bluegrass.
Same thing you're talking about - they're doing it for art & not for ratings. :-)
If you're looking for original music to broadcast as well I'm happy
to send you a CD or better yet a link to download the files! :-)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I take it you don't like Apple either?
The word comes from iPods and Broadcasting as Apple was the first one
to propagate them on a wide scale.
there's too many people doing that stuff that dont know what they are doing. they dont know how to be interesting or put together a good show and they dont even have voices people would want to listen to.
Then you can choose not to listen to them. :-) There are a TON of them
out there that I have no interest in, but if it's a niche hobby there might be a few or even one that covers that topic. That's still far and beyond having NOTHING on the topic to listen to. :-)
i guess that's part of making stuff so easy that anybody can do it. anybody IS doing it.
But the even better thing is if you don't like it you don't have to participate. :-)

Yes, in our case, it's really a community service - art, news, local issues, niche programming, targeting specific demographics, live broadcasts of community events or local government meetings, etc. :)

What sort of music? There's likely a program where it fits. :)
yes, downloads work fine. In fact, easier for pre-recording (insert a file, instead of having to play the track ;) ).

There's such a wide range of podcasts. The ones I release are actually radio shows from a community station. Both the station and the
presenters have agreed to have their shows podcasted.

Nice! I think things like that are important - lends itself to
community bonding.

Acoustic/Americana - I'm a singer/songwriter - it's a CD of 10 original songs - I did all the music (mostly just guitar, but I added a second guitar to a few and bass to a few and mandolin to two of them).

It's a 'private' link that I used for my Kickstarter backers, so I
don't want to publish it 'out loud.' :-)

Yep, and I forgot to mention that it's all run by volunteers.

Ahh OK, sounds like you need a community station over there, so they
can promote local artists! :)

I'm all for people being paid or rewarded for their work, but being volunteers usually points to a passion for the work!
