Just a quick message to introduce myself. I live in Wellington, New Zealand, and used to be a Sysop of a Searchlight BBS in NZ back in the days.
One of the things I'm going to be doing is adding the entire Simtel.net files collection to the BBS (80 odd gb). I've discovered the Simtel archive is dying on the internet, and the mirrors left hosting it are vanishing slowly but surely.
How did you get a copy of it? Can you rsync to an existing mirror or is it on DVD?

I stole it from a slow FTP mirror I found in Japan. Took a week to
download. But it was one of only a handful of mirrors left that had the complete collection.
Now that I have it, I want to share it with the world and keep the retro goodness flowing.
Aside from loading the lot in to my BBS files section, I'm going to pop it on a web server, and also offer the entire collection as a single RARed download.
hope you have a lot of bandwidth because if you have the entire collection that's quite large and people will leech off of you a lot.
i wouldnt say it's hard to get the simtel archives. you just have to know what you are looking for. you could get an older or newer version and be missing some files.
