On 12/10/15, Mro said the following...

    pretty much anything.
are you that old that you dont remember what it was like to be 9?
there was a lot more fun stuff to do than bbses. downloading files and posting msgs? what 9 year old freak wants to do that.

also when i recall playing videogames at that age, we would all get together and play games together. it's much different than sitting infront of a terminal calling bbses.

When I was 9, I would come home from school and turn on my B&W TV, wait for
it to warm up, and watch Star Trek, Wild Wild West, or The Partridge Family,
or Gilligan's Island, or I Dream of Jeanie. On saturdays, I'd play with my erector set, or build a plastic model airplane, or dig a hole in the back
yard, or ride bikes, build a fort in the vacant lot down the street...

BBSing wasn't even available when I was 9.

I suppose I was similar. BBSes existed when I was 9, but I didn't use them yet at the time. I spent much of my free time building things with Legos, watching various shows on TV, listening to the radio, playing video games (some of which were on a PC), riding my bike, etc..

I was going online at around that age and it was in the mid 80s. It really isn't all that odd. There weren't as many of us as there are people on social media today, but for a kid that young it represented something new and cool, especially since not many people in the general public had caught on yet.
I started with Compuserve (I'm sure my parents appreciated me roping them into that expense), then gravitated towards BBS' (mainly Color Computer themed
ones) and the forums on Delphi.
I think if a kid does ONLY that, it might be a little out of whack, but I've heard of worse :-)
I was another Kiss Army nerd as someone else posted here earlier. Fun times!

I agree. :) I started using BBSes when I was 12, but it wasn't the only thing I was into. When I was that age, I mainly looked for PC games & other cool stuff to download from BBSes, and I sometimes liked multi-node chat on boards that had that, and occasionally reading/posting in message areas (although not very often).
