Yeah. It was originally run by John Lorance on RBBS in 1985. John hated RBBS so he wrote his own software. When he quit the scene I took over maintaining the BBS and the software.

It was down for many years, during the dark times. I rewrote the software in Ruby and put it back up about 10 years ago now.

Funny that you mention that - we just emptied out our storage locker, and I got to claim a couple of princess laptops that used to be my sisters'. :P

One has a broken screen and I think the other needs a hard disk and RAM, but once I get everything combobulated, they should make for decent headless servers.

Congrats on getting your board back up!

Heh. I always have loads of old junk. My wife doesn't really approve, for some reason. At least this hobby is just about free these days.

    It's good to be back.

You mean she doesn't approve of the hobby in general or not the junk? I'd find the hobby hard to be one that has disagreeable aspects, at least as far as a relationship is concerned. Unless, of course, one keeps his nose pointed at the screen for the vast majority of the time. ;)

It's the junk. She's not bothered by BBS stuff. Considering I met her on The Rock Garden... (:

Yeah. I've been off work for a little while, as I nearly died and stuff (don't be alarmed, I should live for some time (: So, I'm planning all sorts of coding projects... that I won't have time to get done once I' back at work.

Ah, now that part I can understand. I don't know how many different places I've lived at with my computer graveyard in tow, but it's definitely more than half a dozen.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that. Close encounters with death are pretty crappy, at least in my book. Glad to hear everything [sounds like] is alright. Definitely a good time to start some coding projects. I'm having a little limitation in my hours right now that's giving me plenty of free time, but I've lost interest in the one project that I was working on and I'm not having much luck thinking of anything else that I'm interested in coding that'll help. I need to find something to keep the rust off my brain, though.

Nearly dieing really sucks. I tried it for around 45 seconds. Did you have
any problems with memory loss? After I nearly died I had all sorts of things that I used to know how to do that I just looked at like they were greek after- wards. Good to hear that you'll be around for a while now tho.

When people say they "literally" died because that egg roll was so good it must make you want to slap them. :)

Yeah. When we moved to the UK from the US, she *refused* to pack the PDP 11/23 or the TRS-80 Model 2 in the shipping container... yet when it turned up here it had toilet paper and shampoo and stuff in there.

Thanks. Yeah... I'm doing okay. Having a heart attack at 46 was kind of unexpected... but like the Dr. Lexus like doctor said, "I think you got away with it, dude..."

    Here's hoping!

I haven't had any memory problems, but I wasn't out for that long. I basically felt really dizzy, and sweaty, and passed out. So, my coworkers took me to the doctors. The doctor (who's a known idiot) sent me home.

Fortunately, I got my wife (who's a nurse) to pick me up. I then proceded to lie down and have a heart attack. She hammered on my chest within seconds and got the paramedics there within about two minutes.

If she hadn't been there, I'd have died... because I'm kind of dumb and wasn't in my right mind... I should have gone to the ER.

Wait, a BS in Ruby? Hell yes. Are you still maintaining this? I was planning to write something in Ruby.
