these drones are so cheap and there's so much shit going on with them messin with airplanes, i wouldnt be surprised if they were outlawed in the near future.
After seeing one crash into the stadium at a tennis match I don't think there's any other choice but to outlaw them. At least in and around public places.
This problem has been solved other ways for such things as cars and airplanes already. No need to do an outright ban, simply licence and register them.
A clear definition of what airspace is available and who regulates it is needed. The FAA is trying to do this as are various state and local governments. Some local governments have laws for remote controlled aircraft which predate the quadcopters that will need to be considered.
An outright ban is a silly knee-jerk reaction, but ignoring the problem and hoping it will just go away is silly as well. I'm not sure who I think should end up regulating airspace in an urban environment, but I lean toward local control more than federal.
There are already a number of laws against using UAVs while hunting, which I approve of, but banning them in the same areas because they can crash into stadiums is not the right solution to the problem.
