• syncterm issue (aha!)

From Hylian@VERT to All on Friday, August 14, 2015 15:21:02
Well I figured out my syncterm issue. Seems syncterm 1 refuses to go into x11 mode for me, and it looks like crap in curses mode.

I figured this out by running old 0.9.5b.

    Here are the screenshots:

    sharing

the first three are new synterm, the second three are old syncterm, and 7 is the
error code I get which says "CIOLIB initialization failed!" when i try and force
    syncterm 1 into "x11" mode.

At least I have some good leads now!

Yep, how are you building SyncTERM? To build with X11 support, you'll need the Xlib.h header file in one of these locations:
    /usr/X11R6/include/X11/Xlib.h
    /usr/local/include/X11/Xlib.h
    /usr/X11R7/include/X11/Xlib.h
    /usr/X11/include/X11/Xlib.h
    /usr/X/include/X11/Xlib.h
    /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h
    /opt/X11/include/Xlib.h

I don't believe you've mentioned your distro yet, so I can't help find the correct package to install to get this file.

I switched back to xubuntu 14.04 lts because I thought their would be less issues with syncterm.

Hope that helps, and thanks for the help!

Then you'll need the libx11-dev package installed to build with X11 support.

I got the source for Syncterm to build just fine this morning under
    CentOS 7 :)
