I just wanted to geek with you about my new find. :)
i found this awesome version of Linux called Bodhi Linux. Man i love it, so crazy fast and minimal. It's like they read my mind and created a Linux distro.

Thanks for the pointer! My favorite Linux box is an old IBM Thinkpad T42 -- great keyboard and screen, but with a 1.7Ghz single core processor that does
report PAE (but does support it) and 2 GB of RAM I like being able to pare down
the install to use lighter apps and cut things I don't need out.
Sounds like Bodhi gives you Enlightenment (which I used to love) and a clean slate - and supports non-PAE processors.

so what do you find so great about it? i looked on their website but couldnt find anything much. just them talking about how lean it is. i'm low on timeso
i have to wait until weekends to check out stuff like this.
i was using manjaro linux and that's good for running on systems with low resources. if you havent checked that out, i suggest it.

Looks interesting, but their site doesn't seem to have much info on it. It looks like Bodhi uses the Englightenment desktop environment - I tried Englightenment a long time ago and liked it but never used it much.
It's the lightest distro i have seen which still gives you the ubuntu repos. Which is nice for "install it and forget about it" functionality. (Mostly)...

There are a couple of light ones out there I've had good luck with, and whic use the standard repos.
Crunchbang is now dead, held out the longest supporting non-PAE processors.
LXLE and Lubuntu are similar in style, Lubuntu takes it a step further and promotes lighter apps, like Sylpheed instead of Thunderbird, and has it's ow lightweight catalog.
All use LXDE, a lightweight manager that looks like old-school Ubuntu to me.
