• SSL over IRC

    From Gandolf@VERT to DOVE-Net.General on Saturday, May 23, 2015 20:30:39
    ALCON;

    I've taking a look at the following document http://www.synchro.net/docs/ircd.txt
    and I couldn't find my answer, so I'm asking here.

    Does the Synchronet IRC server support SSL over IRC?

    Thank you in advance.

    I don't believe it currently does, but it would be fairly simple to add. What's not clear is why it would be wanted for IRC.

    Not in v3.16. SSL/TLS support for services will be in a forthcoming version.

    That's great news! Even though the information going through my BBS
    isn't particularly sensitive, since it's on my home network I'd like
    to have anything going in and out encrypted.

    Sure, but the reason needs to be compelling enough for someone to actually *do*
    it.

    Ays, sorry I took so long to come back, been busy and such. Just filled my glass with some Powers and will be sipping it while I catch up.

    DuckDuckGo is indeed where the cool people go to search.
