I actually spent some time today looking for this option on a BBS I visit that runs Synchronet, as I moved interstate.

I wonder if there is a reason it's not there? Perhaps it could be added?

the ability to change most user information can be added to ANY synchronet bbs quite easily.

Something like location is probably the type of information you'd should have to contact the sysop to change, though.

It could be added. The reason its not there is that the user's location is often included in publicly-visible lists (like the logon list, the user list, etc.) and it was considered undesireable to allow users to change this text anytime they wish and would prefer to have the sysop "in the loop" when the user wants to change something like that (like their gender, for example). But it's easy to make it modiable via Baja or JS just as well.
