Although he specifically mentions vert.synchro.net, his question sounds
more general, regarding Synchronet. His question is something that will affect any BBS running Synchronet, don't ya think?

i think that's stretching it a bit. he specifically mentioned vert.synchro.net
on MY bbs, (which is synchronet) people can change these settings in the user preferences.
Yeah, but the subject contains "on sync bbs". The subject doesn't mention vert.synchro.net. That and the fact that he posted his question in a networked message area made me think he's asking about Synchronet in general.
Synchronet's user preferences screen is available on any Synchronet BBS (unless you've made a totally custom preferences screen rather than running Synchronet's built-in preferences action).
you've been living in the synchronet fish bowl too long. we dont all run shitty stock bbses. synchronet is easy to customize.
i've had this feature since before javashit was added to synchronet.
Seriuosly? Do you think I have a stock BBS? Have you even seen it? I believe you have logged in a few times.
i've had this feature since before javashit was added to synchronet.
Heh, "javashit"? I suppose you call it that because you can't code in JavaScript? And you pride yourself in modding your BBS?
yeah i've seen your bbs but it's nothing special.
i don't even think you get callers other than other sysops.

what makes you think i cant code in javascript?
i do however, think that baja is better for most bbs related tasks, especially when the case is that you can do the same with less code.
python or perl is better, though.

Your opinion. But based on your attitude toward other sysops, I'm not

How do you know? Do you check my user list often, and do you know everyone who calls my BBS?
The fact that you called it "javashit" was a clue that you at least dislike it.
I haven't used Baja all that much, but less code sometimes means more cryptic code, which I think is the case sometimes with Baja. I think
That helped with creating SlyEdit. I couldn't imagine writing a message editor in Baja..

yeah i check it every day

sure i dislike it.
baja is actually very straight forward. especially considering other bbs softwares' IPLs. go take a look at some baja code some time.
Perhaps, but Synchronet has no bindings for those languages. I've sometimes thought that it might be nice to have Synchronet objects for Python.. However, JavaScript seems to be the scripting language of choice to replace Baja, so JavaScript it is.
I did do a chunk of work on integrating perl once, but then I let it die since JavaScript is more than good enough.
