• Gary Kildall could have been in Bill Gates' place today

As we all know, Microsoft was the company that made the deal to license an operating system to IBM, and the rest is history. But before IBM contacted Microsoft, IBM first went to DRI for an operating system but failed to make a deal because DRI's CEO, Gary Kildall, was absent that day: http://bit.ly/1IHX4xc

That was a real shame, CP/M-86 and especially MP/M-86 (which became Concurrent DOS or something) are far nice OSes than MS-DOS.

DRI had figured out multitasking OSes that actually worked for Z80s, with Microsoft we got to wait until Windows NT for the same functionality.

that's not an accurate account of what happened.
infact it's a very biased shitty sensationalized article.

also, gary had money. and he enjoyed life to the fullest. it's too bad
    that he died

So...Tell us what did happen. I'm curious to know. I always understood that Gates "stepped in shit" with the DOS operating system.

Computer Chronicles did a Gary Kildall special and it is available on archive.org. It was very intersting.
