stop there... why is an installer needed anyway? remoteaccess
    never had
one... it didn't need one... you unzipped it into the directory
    where

This conversation is pointless, unwanted, and not on topic here. Stop
    it, or
leave the echo and discuss it in netmail or somewhere else.

Something certainly seems to be happening on the Mystic side. As you can see this is a gating from Fido's mystic echo and I know v62 just hit the streets yesterday.

There's been more posts here in the last week than some of the www forums I visit on a regular basis. Is that good for Dove-Net or bad for the www forums?

I'd say it's a little of both... People used to self-organize by location online back in the dialup days of bbsing... it was generally free, and you could send messages and play turn based games. There were some multi-line bbses with chat or more interactive games, but mostly pay, and far fewer of them. All of that said, the shift has been towards web boards based on interest.. but that has moved to specialized sites such as stack overflow, or even facebook and twitter. Even blogging has shifted.

I'm pretty nostalgic at this point... my board's vm was corrupted a few years back, and would crash every few days after moving it... a bout a year or so ago, I just stopped restarting it... now I'm thinking of putting it back up again... if I get some time sunday I may just do that.

Mostly blathering on though. I'm still not quite sure of the value of a bbs today, but I like to tinker...
