I'm going to crosspost something that I wrote for FidoNet here... Please bear with me, this is totally unedited first draft material, though now that it's posted I'm thinking that I'll go back, edit it, and turn it into a more purposeful essay. I'm happy for any feedback, or any discussion that this might cause start. It's quite an important part of my life, as you'll see. Forgive my horrible punctuation and run-on sentences... That's just how it pours out of me, until I go back and fix those things. I'll post a finished version of this, when I get it done.
