Sadly I think I know where these mindless, script-writing creatures come from. I'm IT student and every day I see more than 80% of my so called 'friends' are bragging that something is old and useless because there is no GUI and you have to configure it and stuff. I don't get it. How someone can call himself IT guy if he even won't install Ubuntu because he is to scared of finding solutions to problems and of reading the god damn documentation? But fortunatelly employers see the difference between good and a bad IT guy so they hardly ever employ them to write anything. Instead they are put at the end of a phone line to read scripted questions to us because most of the time they don't even understand what is going on.
I'm sorry if I ended up offending anyone. Of course to every rule there is an exeption and not all call-center workers are like that. But I am concerned that in next 20 years it might not be the case.
