  • Recent SyncTerm builds

    Recently, I have downloaded a couple new builds of SyncTerm from the SyncTerm home page:

    With the recent builds, when I start up SyncTerm, there is a separate window titled "SDL_app" that appears and covers the SyncTerm window. I have not seen that in earlier builds of SyncTerm (previously, I was using 0.9.5b). There are some posts about this on another network, and it seems it only happens for some people and not others. I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit, and I don't think I have SDL installed anywhere else (at least, I did not install it intentionally - I'm not sure if some other software I installed has installed SDL).

    I started seeing that SDL_app window with the October 4 build, and I still see it with the October 18 build. If I go back to version 0.9.5b of SyncTerm, it doesn't show that SDL_app window. Does anyone know why that might be happening?

    You know, I've had the exact same problem with syncterm and syncdraw. On my platform, it happens at times when I'm testing new builds (regularly). With the versions that I've got installed now, it happens very rarely. I also get intermittent periods (sometimes twice in a row) where either of these programs being loaded segfaults, and I need to start it again. It's only a small portion of the time (with the dual windows), but I've also noticed when this happens that the blank window takes the mouse/keyboard input, while the other window shows all interactions and the display. Not sure if that helps at all.
    Of course, as usual my own system is OBSD, and thus not exactly relevant to all nuances except that it's a fellow *NIX build. If anybody'd care to clue me in on what might be helping with this on OBSD as well, though, I'd be ever so grateful.

    You know, I've had the exact same problem with syncterm and syncdraw.

    I have the same thing happening on just one computer that I use at work. On my home computer (Win 8.1 x64) no problems, on my work laptop (Win 7 x64) no problems, on a work desktop (Win 7 x64) it happens consistently. I just
    figured it was the Active Directory profile for that particular machine, as it is a bit more locked down than the laptop.

    see this behavior
