    oh i saw a msg complaining about news.bs-scene not working anymore and this
    guy need to get a new newsgroup provider. can't remember if this was fidonet or a dovenet msg sub. it was on one of my other bbses.

    i remember when frank suggested i use his news server when my isp stopped providing newsgroups and he scoffed when i said i want use a service that will stay around and is well established.

    someone suggested eternal september. they have some restrictions that
    made it difficult for me to use them since i post ads once a month. i think they called it 'excessive name shifting' when i posted under more than 1 name.


    there's also other issues like throttling. i just didnt like them after they made changes when the big isps stopped carrying newsgroups. i used them all the way back when they were motzarella.org. now they suck.

    Anyways, what you can do is buy a block on astraweb and never use it for binaries. i've been using astraweb for newsgroups on my bbs for 3 years and i still have the same block i bought in the beginning. there is no expiration. ---

    Thanks for the suggestion, I might try them out. I've also been wanting to find another news server since bbs-scene.org disappeared.
