Today as I did my unhealthy browsing over Facebook, a fellow SysOp from Argentina was showing his grandslam attempt at setting up the HtmlTerm, from www.ftelnet.ca. It looked cool and I wanted a jab at it, to do something different...

I had some trounle understanding how to integrate the proxy system, because ftelnet.ca, mentions websockify, but nowhere they mention websockets.js, which is the websocket included by Synchronet by default. Being this a third party product you cant find anything on the wiki for synchronet...

And again when you research Synchronet, on the web, well there is not a lot of information on it, it all redirects to the wiki, which for some things its pretty challenging, at least imho.

So someone in the Facebook group was participating in a thread I sorta helped hijaak, someone named Jason.

All the help, provided were snarky one liners, with very minimal information and the excuse of not wanting to ask 20 questions, came, so with very small questions, I would give very small answers, because the impression I had was that this guy was either trying to pick a fight with his air of superiorism and his ground breaking knowledge of all things Synchronet.

I had a feeling I was dealing with someone familiar, I remember one of you guys mentioning how the DoveNet retard, when he ran out of arguments, resorted to name calling...

I figured the person was just there to pick a fight and without answering any questions I had with a knowledgeable response or something more than directing me to the wiki of synchronet, so I went back to my project, and I dove back into it... I didnt log out of FB, so I would hear the dings of people replying and the pop ups, so I took a look at this 1 (one) screenshot, the Jason dude sent in... FINALLY!! ENLIGHTMENT... well sorta, the person didnt deem worthy to include the URL with his shot, but you cant really look at a gifted horse in the mouth.

Thanks to that screenshot I was able to discover how the whole shebang worked, and I had it set up in no time.

But the impression he gave me was of a soulless zombie that wanted to suck my soul, I thought for a moment and cringed about anyone else being that much of a prick... But then I rememebred the cool cats dwell over here, not over there.

I was telling my demise to John F Kennedy, and he goes, oh, well Jason is MRO.

So, who's brilliant idea was to set me up? Please tell me I have survived my SysOp hell week initiation, and I am a full brother of the fraternity... if not, please just send me to do a cow or a goat in some farm... I'll do it...

Well I found it amusing he called me a clown, I mean of all the insults. That is like a crayon eating bastard, smiling at you, with his teeth all covered in crayons.

btw, since this guy is trying some public shaming or whatever, i thought

I'm sure most of us can disagree with gilbert here.
the synchronet documentation is robust AND it has examples. even the older versions of the documenation are useful. of course there's work to be done, but that's a good thing. there's always room for improvement.

ftelnet and htmlterm [which we are LUCKY to have], is lacking documentation. BUT... what you need to know is right at the top of the files you need to modify. and what you need to modify is very little. It's a work in progress and it works. if anybody would like to contribute documenation, i'm sure he'd accept it.

there are people on this planet that have been babied their entire life.
they are weak. when they meet adversity they expect someone to rescue them. someone to support them, to do things FOR them. when this doesnt happen, baby cries.

Other people like a slight challenge and go from point "a" to point "b" without sitting down in the sand or turning around.

Yeah, I'm shit with docs. I'm usually pretty quick with email though, so that's the best option if anybody runs into trouble.

And I've now updated the downloads page to mention the three different proxy options, with Synchronet's websocketservice.js being listed first since I
think most people using the client are also using Synchronet.

(Might want to go download the latest version of websocketservice.js from the ftelnet.ca downloads page -- haven't had a chance to find my credentials to push it to CVS yet, so the CVS version is old.)
