Hey, I was just thinking of lunch, and thought I would tell you what I am going to make.

    ever hear of spanakopita?

    it's a greek "spinach pie."

you start with philo dough, then a little olive oil, then onions, feta cheese, sausage, sometimes mushrooms, spinach, then just a tad bit more oil, and you top it off with more philo.

It's tasty man, you gotta try it.

Especially if you dig greek food.

A new flashback console will be coming out October 1. The ColecoVision Flashback will contain 60 games and will be available at Toys R Us, Dollar General and Sam's Club. Some Toys R Us stores erroneously placed them on store shelves ahead of October 1 and some gamers picked them up and posted pictures online.

I already own a ColecoVision so I most likely won't pick one up for myself (I wouldn't rule out picking one up to sit on my shelf still sealed). I plan on picking one up for my 6 year old nephew who seemed to enjoy playing the ColecoVision with me a couple of weeks ago.

If memory serves the flashback costs around $40. There are about 1/2-dozen homebrew titles on there as well.

I saw some similar consoles at a store a while ago - Versions of the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Atari with built-in games and fairly low prices.
I believe they were also able to take actual game cartridges. I looked them
up online and read reviews saying they aren't 100% compatible with all the games out there - so I wasn't really interested in buying one. I'll stick to my Nintendo Wii with its Virtual Console.

    Greetings.
Yeah, I was going to say, I've seen a few products like that advertised that seem to be really good deals, until you see that it's an emulated chipset and the like... I haven't gone into anything like that for the same reasons, either. Hell, I don't even like software emulators. :P
I'm curious about this Nintendo Wii virtual console situation you're describing. I've got a situation right now here, where my son isn't able to get his Wii back up and working because there is already so much hardware hooked up on the available displays. Just wondering if this might be something I'm able to work with in order to get my son back on the games that he loves. :) I'd love to hear more about it.

    Best wishes!

I actually like the software emulators, as long as they work well. I've enjoyed being able to revisit some of my favorite games from NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. on my PC. In the mid-90s, I came across some emulators for NES and Sega Genesis that were pretty good (NESticle was the NES emulator, and GeneCyst was the Genesis emulator), and I remember at least the NES emulator having the ability to do multi-player over the internet. I thought that was pretty cool. Some time ago, I played through Mega Man 1-6 for NES and also played Mario 64 for a while using emulators. Good stuff.

The Virtual Console is a standard built-in feature of the Nintendo Wii. The newer Wii U also has it, and I believe the 3DS might have virtual console as well (although the game selection might be different - more focused on the portable game systems of the past). The Virtual Console an emulator that emulates many past consoles (such as NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Turbo GrafX 16, and I don't remember what else). Nintendo sells ROMs for various games for those systems through their Wii Shop Channel (available on the Wii). We love our 30 year old ColecoVision. I did purchase one of those carts
that let me put every ROM ever on a sdcard though. :)
Still a home brew scene for that one, a few decent games in the last few years have been sold!

The AtariMax Ultimate SD Cart: http://www.atarimax.com/colecosd/documentation/

I thought of getting one a while back, but my goal is to collect every ColecoVision game that was released in the 80s.

Just received three more ColecoVision homebrews in the last couple of weeks: Galaga, Nibbli: Son of Nibbler and Telebunny.

Joust is coming out in October and hopefully Donkey Kong Arcade will be released soon.

I definetly "spiced it up". I like all the extras, so it's "Denny-ized". I guess technically, since I am an american, it is americanized. I am also from Wisconsin, so maybe it's "Wisconsin-ized"... hmm, made a new word there me thinks.
