• Greetings from Ferguson

So, yeah, last night in Ferguson, MO was crazy. An unarmed teen was killed the day before by police, and the community was outraged. There are still many questions that have to be resolved. Throughout the day yesterday there were protests and memorials. But anger devolved into looting last night. Absolutely crazy.

Our town has survived multiple tornadoes. And now this.

But our little family BBS continues. I just wanted folks in BBS land to know that Ferguson is more than just the place they had that looting you saw on the news.

I am glad you are going well. Thank you for this news post: I would rather hear this from someone in that area instead of the mainstream media.

During Gulf War 1, BBSes were an amazing source of on-the-ground info that ended up being more accurate than the new reports.

I remember a report that claimed "less than 5,000" people protesting the war in downtown SF, and one of my callers who could see the crowd estimated it at 20,000 - and could time the crowd going past his window!

Indeed. This is the primary reason that I've got my BBS active; I want it to be ready as a comm hub for intelligence/non-propagandized current events coverage in the event of networks being seized. 'Course I've mentioned that a million times, sorry for beating the dead horse.
Anyway, my last poast (put in DOVE-Net Debate>) pretty much exemplifies the kind of event spread that I'm hoping to garner from the whole situation. I just hope it's never really necessary to activate secondary hubs like that.
It's not like we haven't had propagandized control of the media for a long time now, though. Too bad I wasn't on the BBS scene when Desert Storm occurred; comparing and contrasting the events and reports at that early of an age probably would've saved me some of the drama that I got myself into getting an 'inside view' on what's really going on in the world.
