What are the "Computer Chronicle"? Is it a TV show? I remember reading a weekly (or was it montly) newspaper called the Computer Chronicles back in the 90s.

It Was a really great tv show that ran for years. Look it up on YouTube. It's well worth checking out if you like that type of retro tv :)

The YouTube uploads are "unofficial". The official archive for the show can be downloaded and streamed in high quiality from archive.org.

why do you think the archive.org shows are official and any other place they are not?
i'm pretty sure it's all unofficial.
It's because Stewart Cheifet himself helped transfering the tapes to
digital format for hosting on archive.org.
ah, Stewart Cheifet got a job at archive.org as a directory of collections. I don't think he works there anymore though.

I used to love Lord. I *USED TO* have LORD and LORD2 registered. Would lov to get it running again. What I really loved about Lord2 was how you could make your own maps. It was kinda like you made your own adventure game.

Would be great to have you on board with BBSlink - my new InterBBS door project that runs LORD, LORD2, TEOS and a couple of others. Plus open to
any other suggestions.
so how does that work? are you using rlogin?

LORD and TEOS are in a very grey area regarding registration at the moment. Gameport don't appear to be responding to enquiries, registrations etc so the games appear abandonware until they can be registered, which is sad because that also means no more development.

Take a look at lord.lordlegacy.com/news.php for the full story...
so how does that work? are you using rlogin?
i just got bbslink on my board, and just as a user/sysop i'd say it works really well. i wouldn't be the best to tell all the technical details, but it's pretty smooth and easy compared with other options i've seen. took me less than a couple minutes to get all the doors up and running. i give it two thumbs up.
Was that the TV show that had the REALLY REALLY REALLY BASIC programming lessons?
gameport was giving people blank registration codes and taking the money. they were then forwarding those people to mike preslar even though gameport was supposed to be handling that.
i wouldnt want anybody to register lord or teos via gameport.
people have tried to buy the rights to it and while there has been some
talk back and forth, gameport usually cuts off all contact.
i got together with a pool of people and we offered 6k for lord, and i was going to give preslar's code to him to develop and give him the rights to weblord dev, and then make seth's code open source, but no talkie from gameport.
i'm pretty sure you can do what you're doing just with rlogin. i've seen people do it before.
you can use my planets teos reg which says "the BBS" i'll take the blame
if it comes back to anybody. when i got my code back i asked to change the bbs name to 'THE BBS' and they did. cant believe they did that :D
same goes with my lord reg code that is out there. people are using it with lord 4.8
i wasnt trying to bust you for using my reg code. you probably downloaded
it right off my bbs or website.
That seems to bizarre to me. Why refuse 6 grand for something you clearly have
no interest in? Especially when it's not generating you any income as it is because you can't be bothered to cooperate with the people who actually want to hand over money to you!
I'm pretty sure I could too, and that's the way I started development. The reason I went for what I did was that Rlogin isn't supported by all BBS software and I want this to be as universal as possible. I designed it with Synchronet in mind because I've been using Sync since 2002 and that's what I'm
ost familiar with now (Wildcat 4 back in the day!). I've already got someone who is interested in porting the connection script to x/84.
I don't suppose one of the two of you would mind sending me a copy of thesame goes with my lord reg code that is out there. people are using it lord 4.8

Sure, I downloaded Lord42 a while back.
I remember I used to have some
cool add-ons for LORD. I wouldn't mind putting Lord on my Synchronet BBS, but the darn linode seems to be determined to make all my hair go grey.
I
compiled it with the DOSEMU option before, and found out DOSEMU doors only worked with 32-bit linux. So, I copied everything to a backup partition, installed Debian 7, 32-bit. I then restored everything, ran through all the pre-requesits, re-compiled Synchronet. Tried to install DOSEMU, and it refuses to find it! I use apt-get install -y dosemu (I looked on the web, debian says the package name for wheezy, and 2 other distributions are all named dosemu. I used the online sourcelist generator and copied all the sources from there to my linode's sourcelist.d directory, in a text file called kf5qeo.list. I ran update, it took a little longer to refresh all the new sources, and I tried to install dosemu, it still claims it couldn't be found. who knows....

Turns out apparently DOSEMU *WAS* installed, and that's why it
couldn't install it, though I could swear I saw it saying it couldn't
find it once. Either way, Talked with Marc, I'll probably be putting the
linux node up as 1:396/61.0@fidonet.
This may vary with Linode, but I had similar problems with installing on Ubuntu 12.04 ona standard OpenVZ VPS. I got it working by editing my /etc/apt/sources.list and adding 'multiverse' to the end of each repository line. Mine looks like this:
i dont know what you mean by extensions.IGM's, I was trying to think of what you called them. As far as help, I would appreciate them either sending me my old serial number/key info, or taking my money and sending me a new key info... Either would be acceptable with me, but from what I understand they'll do neither... Heck, they won't
you mean igms?
and regarding help..... lord is probably the easiest doorgame to install EVER.

lordlegacy is operated by the last developer of lord; he doesnt own lord or planets. he pays server costs and domain registrations out of his pocket so random people can come by and download files everyday and post on the forums.
that's probably more than you would do
lordlegacy has more igms than anybody else.Oh, I thought Lordlegacy was just another part of gameport from the

I know this is an old message...but does anyone know where one could downloa the old CNET Central episodes? I found a few on YouTube under TTVRewind's channel. Would like to have more. I miss that show.Do you mean Computer Chronicles?? I hae every episode (I think).. I also have all of the "BBS The Documentary" episodes too.

If either of these are what you are looking for, I can put a temporay link on my home server for you. They are up to 30GB in size and would take days to download to you... We here in Australia are limited to a 1MB uplink...
i think i'll make a computer chronicals torrent on bbstorrents.
You mind telling a n00b how to find bbstorrents? Have Google will search.
But it sounds like you didn't actually do the search? If you search Google bbstorrents, it's the first link in the search results. http://bbstorrents.bbses.info
Sorry. What I was saying is I _would_ search Google after I left the BBS. I did and, yes, I did find it quite easily. THanks..
