My 4 month old grand daughter passed away today. She had problems breathing just before Christmas, recovered. Basically had the same problem again but needed CPR. They performed CPR for over an hour
before declaring her dead. The mother is devistated. The mother's birthday is tomorrow, which makes things a bit more difficult on her.

Wow! That is awful! I'm so sorry for you. I look into the faces of my 4No, her first child. It was born a pre-mature and probably shouldn't have been taken out so much, but her mother just had to go to New Orleans for her birthday. The mother and her sisters where not quite what I'd consider mature enough to have a baby. Most young ladies understand when you have a baby, you change your lifestyle to accomidate the baby. The baby had problems before with breathing. My wife suggested a sleep apnea monitor for the baby, but the nurse at the hospital in Jackson, MS. said she didn't need one. (My wife is a registered nurse). The mother's sister won't acknowladge being the sister of the mother, because she's adopted, and as far as she's concerned, the only one who is a part of the family including myself and my wife is her brother, who despite being 21 years of age aparently knows everything about anything. Her sister she's closest to has 2 children, but lives in Texas. She lives in Mississippi right now. The mother previously didn't want anything to do with my wife, but when her daugher went into the hospital the first time, she was so worried, she started talking to her. She now will talk to her mom for support, but is still a bit far from being like a daughter. At the funeral, she made sure to list all her friends as Grand Parents, Uncles, Aunts, Sisters, etc. Many of which didn't have the decency to show up for the funeral. I understand it's not the amount of people who show up, or the flowers, etc. But there was only the family spray and 1 plant at the funeral. Family members from my wife's kids (except the natural born kids), her brother and his wife and kids, the mother's dad, and maybe 10-15 of her friends. She refused to let the dad know anything about the death because he wouldn't go see her in New Orleans when the baby died. So, while I'm glad that the mother is talking to her mom, I'm saddened that as I see it, this baby had to give it's life for her mom to put away her differences to speak to her mom. Granted, the poor baby was constantly in the hospital since it was born with breathing problems. Now the poor thing will no longer have no tubes ran to it, no wires, etc. But it's still not fair to the child!
and 2 year old girls and can't imagine how devistating that would be. I
was so scared when my first daughter was born that I would go to sleep and she would have SID before morning. Do the parents have other children.
