We had so much fun with movies pre-2000 let's try this one:

Try to think of 5 songs that were current during your high school years that were near the most popular amongst you and your classmates. This will somewhat define your age range as well <G>. Some picks that I can think of from my
    years would be:

    Bad Girls - Donna Summer
Cities on Flame With Rock & Roll - Blue Oyster Cult
    Night Moves - Bob Segar
    FunkyTown - Lipps, Inc.
    Highway Song - Blackfoot

So many others from that era and I did my best to omit any BeeGees :D

This I hope will be as fun a thread.

That would be hard to do! I graduated in 1983, and music in the bay area
went through a renaissance. New Wave had really kicked in, and a local radio station cribbed KROQ's "Rock of the 80s" format and shook up a market that
was all rock, all the time.

There was a vibrant music scene in LA/SF back then - there was a weekly newspaper called BAM that covered the bay area music scene.

I need to go watch the Us festival on Youtube and relive some of those bands live. :)

One of my all time favorite radio stations was in Los Angeles probably a
couple years prior... KWST - K-West 106! I wish there was more of them on YouTube. London & Engleman probably the funniest morning duo of all time.
Some of their production work on promos was out of this world IMHO. I don't know what happened but I don't think they were given a fair shake to prove themselves. Granted they had stiff competition with KIIS/Rick Dees but I think if they stuck with it in time they may have done some damaged to KIIS. KROQ however is in a league all it's own... with KRTH.

A lot of TV hosts came from Califorina radio:
    Bob Eubanks
    Wink Martindale
    Gary Owens
to name a few. I never did get to work in the #2 market of the USA. I only worked in Boston which at the time was #6 and NY which was #1. Styles were sooooo different between east/west coast radio. You can tell west coast radio has that "gnarly surf's up dude" chill to it where east coast is super high energy, almost like you're going to drop dead from a stroke presentation.

There was a vibrant music scene in LA/SF back then - there was a weekly newspaper called BAM that covered the bay area music scene.

I'm a tad familiar with the scene there even though I'm in the northeast -
one of the benefits of being a radio DJ I suppose.

I need to go watch the Us festival on Youtube and relive some of those bands live. :)

Nothing like reliving the fun times in life!

That is an impossible category for me to pin down just to 5.

I was a Columbia House member and ordered many albums over the
    years.

But off the top of my head, I can think of:

    1. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
    2. <any song> - Fleetwood Mac
    3. Joy to the World - Three Dog Night.
    4. Crocodile Rock - Elton john
    5. Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet

    There are tonnes more!

Even Abba swept the airwares and made an impact.

    Hotel California - Eagles
    Walk This Way - Aerosmith

..I better quit. Too many songs to think of.

    Night Moves - Bob Segar

Excellent tune. Reminds me of another one for the list:

Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers. (S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y.. Night)

Of course the list could grow beyond 5, I just thought it'd be
fun to reminise about some of the good ol' days past :)

I was a Columbia House member and ordered many albums over the
    years.

Wow! That in itself brings back memories! The initial sign up deal seemed
too good to pass up! I was too for a while, then years later I was all in
for many of the oldies collections from time-life :)

    1. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
    2. <any song> - Fleetwood Mac
    3. Joy to the World - Three Dog Night.
    4. Crocodile Rock - Elton john
    5. Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet

    All great!

    There are tonnes more!
Even Abba swept the airwares and made an impact.

Yes they did make a big impact.

    Hotel California - Eagles
    Walk This Way - Aerosmith

    More goodies!

Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers. (S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y.. Night)

Wow, almost forgot that one! Another that I found a remix of on YouTube: Sylvers - High School Dance.

That should rattle the noggin a bit <G>

the 10 for $1 intro deal.

    Sylvers - High School Dance.

I seem to recall that one being a popular tune on the radio in
    my highschool years.

That should rattle the noggin a bit <G>

There are simply far too many to mention. Even Led Zepplin's
Stairway to Heaven was a biggie.

More... Supertramp's Crime of the Century material was just
about my earliest years in highschool.

Linda Ronstadt's You're No Good was a constant repeat play on
the lone jukebox that the Student Committee planted in the
cafeteria near the end of my stint in highschool.

There were a LOT of tunes that I enjoyed in between those
years. So.. it's just hard to limit to a small handful.

I think here in the states it was known as Molson Golden. And I've never heard of Silverchair. Will have to look them up on YT this afternoon.

Molson Canadian was sold here in California - probably the same beer.

My high school beer experience was Moosehead beer and Rolling Rock.
