We had so much fun with movies pre-2000 let's try this one:
Try to think of 5 songs that were current during your high school years that were near the most popular amongst you and your classmates. This
will somewhat define your age range as well <G>. Some picks that I can think of from my years would be:

That would be hard to do! I graduated in 1983, and music in the bay
area went through a renaissance. New Wave had really kicked in, and a local radio station cribbed KROQ's "Rock of the 80s" format and shook
up a market that was all rock, all the time.
There was a vibrant music scene in LA/SF back then - there was a weekly newspaper called BAM that covered the bay area music scene.
I need to go watch the Us festival on Youtube and relive some of those bands live. :)

Night Moves - Bob Segar

That is an impossible category for me to pin down just to 5.
I was a Columbia House member and ordered many albums over the
years.
1. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
2. <any song> - Fleetwood Mac
3. Joy to the World - Three Dog Night.
4. Crocodile Rock - Elton john
5. Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet
There are tonnes more!
Even Abba swept the airwares and made an impact.
Hotel California - Eagles
Walk This Way - Aerosmith
Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers. (S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y.. Night)

But off the top of my head, I can think of:

Wow! That in itself brings back memories! The initial sign
up deal seemed too good to pass up! I was too for a while,
then years later I was all in for many of the oldies
collections from time-life :)
Sylvers - High School Dance.
That should rattle the noggin a bit <G>

After a few orders after the obligatory 4 or 5 full-price
albums, I would cancel the membership and start all over with
the 10 for $1 intro deal.
There are simply far too many to mention. Even Led Zepplin's
Stairway to Heaven was a biggie.
More... Supertramp's Crime of the Century material was just
about my earliest years in highschool.
Linda Ronstadt's You're No Good was a constant repeat play on
the lone jukebox that the Student Committee planted in the
cafeteria near the end of my stint in highschool.
There were a LOT of tunes that I enjoyed in between those
years. So.. it's just hard to limit to a small handful.

A lot of TV hosts came from Califorina radio:
Bob Eubanks
Wink Martindale
Gary Owens

Jim Lange was on KSFO 560 (San Francisco) before The Dating Game -
there's another one.

There are two things that can instantly teleport me back to my last year of high school: the smell of Molson Canadian, and any song by Silverchair.

Agreed but it does make for continued posts.

I think here in the states it was known as Molson Golden. And I've never heard of Silverchair. Will have to look them up on YT this afternoon.
