Does anybody know if Star Trek Continues ever went past episode 5 or was it just cancelled? I had just started enjoying it a little bit by episode 5, though I still couldn't really come up with a verdict on whether or not it was good compared to the other treks I've enjoyed. Kind of sorry to see that I can't find any more episodes...

I haven't seen it but I was curious, so I looked it up.. It sounds like
there are just 5 episodes, at least according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_Continues

There's another (fan-created?) Star Trek series based on the Original Series called New Voyages, which so far has 11 episodes: http://www.startreknewvoyages.com

Both are based on the original series though.. With those and the J.J.
Abrams reboot movies, I tend to feel like the original series is being
rehashed a bit much. They already moved past that with the Next Generation, etc.. I wouldn't mind seeing more Star Trek continuing past the Next Generation/DS9/Voyager, or perhaps focusing on the time between the original series and the Next Generation, which we have not really seen much of at all.

That's kind of a shame. I was just starting to feel like maybe I could've gotten into the new characters.

Oho! Was not aware of that, thank you for the pointer!

I would tend to agree with you there. I'd love if there was some sort of way to continue on in the Next Generation vein for awhile, but something from maybe some of the novel periods would be really interesting, too. There are a ton of great ones that'd do well on screen.
I've been craving something trek lately; haven't seen all of the reboot movies, either, so I guess I'm not burned out completely yet. :)

I think paramont/cbs and their army of attorneys got involved when it started to get too popular.
