Information Society has been around for over 25 years and they are still making music. I got into them and the music seems timeless and even contempoary for even today.

They have a new album due in March which has 11 cover songs from acts that they felt deep admiration for. Heaven 17, Seasame Street, Human League etc.

You might be impressed if you like electronica.

Hah! Awesome, thanks for posting this. Information Society was way ahead of their time back in the day. Good stuff... can't wait to hear the new album.

I might have to check them out again. The only song I really remember from them is "What's On Your Mind", released in 1988 I believe. I didn't realize they were still making music; I figured they were a one-hit wonder.

I met the lead guy at a game dev club (random group of about 10 guys that met at a bar to catch up with one another's dev houses), I had no idea who he was at the time, but he was doing the audio stuff for Tomb Raider over at Crystal Dynamics.

Nice guy, Super short, like 5' 4" maybe? Kurt Harland...

This must have been after my time. I was director of IT at Eidos, right when they bought Crystal Dynamics. CORE design was doing Tomb Raider back then.

Gaming industry - fun times. LAN parties, random boxes of reference video cards showing up at my office, average PC life of 6 months before replacing it
with the latest and greatest and a boss in London.

I've discovered over the years, that bands I thought were dead, are still
alive and kicking. I was shocked to learn that Boy George was still pumping out music. Did you know that AC/DC, The Rolling Stones and The Cure are all still putting out music? We even had A Flock of Seagulls play at my kid's
high school 2 years ago. I'm taking my wife to see The Cure when the come to town in May.

That's cool. I think I had heard the Rolling Stones are still putting out new music. I hadn't heard much from AC/DC in a while but somehow I'm not surprised that they're still doing music.

I've been a fan of Information Society since I first learned of them in the early 90s. I'm glad to hear about a new album and will definitely look for it!

Though I never met him in person, I'm pretty sure it was Kurt Harland that essentially *was* Information Society all by himself in the mid-90s, and he conducted weekly IRC chats with the fans. I participated in those when he was doing
them. That was unusual, I think, for musicians to do that sort of thing then. Actually, it is now too. But it was enjoyable.

I was introducted to Information Society in 1987/88.
They even did a small show in my small home town about that same time.
The bad thing was I wasn't old enough to get into the bar at the time, would have loved to see them live at a small bar, sure it would have been a good show.

Wasn't aware they were still together thou, so thanks for that info.

He was real short, like 5' 2". Nice guy though, came across as someone who hung out on IRC a lot back in the day.

I remember encountering him in IRC and didn't believe it was him back in the day. He asked me to e-mail him my address and I said WTF why not (it was a post office box) I got an autographed CD in the mail. Information society was pretty cool.

What really blew me away was last year my old high school hosted Foreigner and their Choir performed with them on I want to know what love is. My little cousin who's like a son to me peformed and I got to meet them. I even got to play some of the keyboard with them it was like something out of a dream. The kids thought I was kinda wierd (hell I am, especially after the head injury) but it took me back.

Back in the day I could have went on tour with Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith if I dropped out of college. Good thing I stayed as they both fell from grace.

    Memories... LOL memories.
