    Released July 9, 1982!

Still to this day my most watched movie ever, and I have a 4yo with a copy of Frozen sing-a-long edition... So that's saying something. Let it go! ... argh!

In all seriousness, Tron was a miracle of it's time, the new v.Legacy isn't too bad either, at least it makes for a great visual show-off for my home theater. The original on blu-ray isn't too shabby either.

Since that movie the concept of AI has always been a passing interest (thus my fondness for the System Shock series of VGs).

I have both flicks on DVD and love them both. I have to say though at the end of Tron when the printer spits out like 3 lines of text I said "that's it?" :)

The first time I saw Tron was at a friends house for a sleepover. They rented one of those movie disk machines where the movie was stored on a vinyl record and you had to flip it over halfway through the movie. What was that format called?

I could Google it but that would require effort.

Laserdisc, it was a digital format like CD, outputted with a very light compression or no compression so the picture was quite amazing for its time. I have a player with Tron, Blade Runner (3 disc/6 sided directors cut), Army of Darkness and a few other titles that I keep for giggles.

Yeah if you think about it the whole event probably only lasted a few "cycles" (minutes).
