I doubt it has anything to do with promoting the movie. The gov't
But you said you thought the gov't became involved to make sure it
makes the money it took to create the movie? That would involve
promoting the movie, would it not?
Figure of speech I guess. But no, it shouldn't *need* to involve promoting in any way, shape, or form.
(specifically, Obama) got involved by telling the American people
that we should not bow to any other country and do what they say
just because they threaten us.
Whether you like Obama or not, I think that sentiment makes some
sense. Do you disagree with that? Do you think Sony should not have released the movie due to North Korea's threats?
I don't disagree with it. I only think it should NOT have been who said it. Check the recent CNN post on Dovenet in regards to the North Koreans calling Obama the ringleader behind Sony's releasing of the movie.
Can you imagine going to war over a movie and something our president said in regards to it? :(
And when our gov't is 222+ trillion dollars in debt partly (or
more) due to stupid spending, who knows what the hell they'd do
when it comes to expense for publicity. :)
Sony is a private company. I don't think the government is making any significant money from the sale of a movie - Unless perhaps you count taxes from movie tickets, but I don't think that's much compared to
what the movie studios bring in from movie sales.
Who said anything about the government making money on this movie? I sure didn't. All I mentioned was stupid spending and our national debt in the above paragraph.
Regards,
Nick
