    Hi all,

Is anyone here a Terminator fan? I saw the trailer for Terminator Genisys recently, and I'm curious how it will turn out. It looks to me like it might be a reboot of sorts, and generally I'm not a fan of reboots, but I didn't think Terminator 3 or Salvation reached the level that Terminator 2 did, so I'm curious if Genisys will be better. I still think Terminator 2 was the best Terminator movie.

It looks awesome. With the resulting Star Wars Reboot being pretty awesome IMO, I think rebooting the terminator franchise is a great IDEA, and I think they are doing it in such a way that they aren't just launching into a new universe, but actually taking the time to branch the realities within the movie itself.

I think it'll be fantastic. I also like the Arnold is there, as old as he is, I still love the big palooka.

i still dont get why they canceled that tv show.

I liked Sarah Connor Chronicles too. But I can see what may have been some reasons they canceled it. I think the acting/lines was cheesy sometimes. For instance, Sarah Connor's narrative dialog at the end of one of the episodes included the line "Now we're all sons of bitches." I was rolling my eyes at that one. Also, at times I thought it was strange to watch a Terminator that had different actors than were in the movies - Sarah Connor and John Connor looked different in the TV show.

From my understanding, the new Star Wars movie won't be a reboot, but rather a continuation of the story 30 years after the events of Return Of The Jedi. But what does Star Wars have to do with Terminator?

Generally I've grown tired of reboots. I was skeptical of a Terminator reboot, because the first 2 movies were pretty good, but after Terminator 3 & Salvation, I'm hoping Genisys will be a good one.

I'm looking forward to seeing Arnold in it as well.

One thing I don't like about online streaming services is that they often rotate their content. A movie or TV show that's available one day might be removed the next day, or they might change how they charge for it. I know they have limited storage space & resources, but on the other hand, I feel like if I'm paying for access to a media library, it would be nice to be able to watch what I want to watch.
Earlier this year, there was a show I was watching that was included with Amazon Prime, but then they suddenly started charging for it, so I'd have to buy the episodes if I wanted to keep watching it. I was rather irritated when they did that - What am I paying for with my Amazon Prime subscription fee if they're going to start charging for content separately? I contacted Amazon to ask why they suddenly started charging for that show separately, and the answer was that they would look into it. After a week, I asked them about it again, and they said something like they rotate their content available through Prime and it may become available again in the future. I know there is other content that's not included with Amazon Prime, and I don't fully understand that either.

I didn't see your other message saying you meant Star Trek until after I replied to your first.

I tend to be skeptical about reboots, mostly because I usually don't think the reboots are necessary. It seems reboots are all too common in the movie industry today.
I actually think the new Star Trek movies are pretty good, and fun to watch - but I don't like that they basically restarted the Star Trek franchise. We've already seen plenty of Kirk and his crew. I would have been more interested in seeing another Next Generation movie (if it was done well, unlike Nemesis), or perhaps a new Star Trek movie or TV series covering some of the time period between the Original Series and the Next Generation, which we have seen so little of.

amazon is constantly changing how they do things. that's the reason why

In my spare time, I'm actually working on building something along that line: a co-op online broadcaster, the idea being to split subscription revenue between the program producers and the co-op, and fund things that way rather than by advertising.

This is simple enough to conceive, but it's awfully hard to plan it so that
it actually works. You run the risk of either imitating YouTube, which is pointless because there's already a YouTube; or imitating Netflix (ditto); or making it so granola-brained that nobody'd be interested in signing up.
Still, the technology's there, the programs seem to be out there (if you can afford them), the market's out there somewhere. It doesn't seem like a huge stretch to bring them all together into something that works.

That was actually the only service I didn't care for. We snagged up Netflix, and tinkered with Hulu a bit. But when I went to take in all my cable equipment
they offered me a monthly rate I just couldn't refuse.

Otherwise, and possibly soon when that year is up, I may drop cable completely,
and just go with a high end internet package from TWC (50/5 or 100/5) and just go with Hulu (Shows aired a day after as well as movies) and Netflix (Movies).

I started up Prime, and within the same evening I had cancelled it to make sure
I got my money back. When 90% of the shows we wanted to watch had a price tag on them, that was all I needed to see. Whereas Hulu and Netflix are a set monthly rate with unlimited viewing.

    Regards,
    Nick
