So I'm spending some time today watching whats going on in Seattle.. I heard about it this week, and a quick recap for anyone who doesn't know:
Protesters have taken over 3 city blocks in Seattle.. the police retreated and in a push to have the federal government respond, the right is trying to push the narrative that these people have started a new country & that we need to go in and shut it down.

I've watched many videos of the protest/'occupation' being violent, anarchist and a takeover. Yes, it is there.

I've also watched live streams from yesterday and today, 6/13 Saturday, of whats REALLY happening... and for the most part, it looks like a protest... not much violence, BUT theres no police presence so... they kinda have what they want IN THIS MOMENT - I bet there will be violence when the cops go in.

The cops are planning on taking the precinct building back... planning on 'taking the 3 city blocks back'... but are staying away for now; what I've heard is theat their gauge on WHEN to do that is their response times for incoming calls...

Their response time, currently, is 3x normal... they used to be able to respond in 5 minutes, and right now its 18 minutes... you know, for the cops to respond even to a call FROM these protestors... or citizens in that area.

Yesterday I would have said just go in there and shut this shit down. Its crazy... and, I guess I'm still there - just now I see that there are normal people there just protesting. Gosh - this is all a mess...

I think a huge underlying issue here is: Don't these folks know that we're in a pandemic.... jesus, in 1918 the second wave of the virus was the one that killed the most people. I think our country is headed right back there.

Those people are lucky to be in a progressive country instead of some Asian hellhole. Try seizing a city block in the MIddle East and see what happens.

The Italian Fasci only got really dangerous when they seized a village and nobody did anything to stop them. Before that, they were just terrorists that beat random people every now adn then - which is bad enough, but not as bad as what came next.

What this people is doing is to take a piece of land and claim sovereignity on it, and since they have the support of the local authorities they can get away with it. To be honest, these people would be classified as rebels in most jurisdictions, alongside Seattle authorities that side with them, regardless how peaceful or not they are.

What I find concerning is not the rebels at the base of the pyramid, but the fact elected officers are so comfortable with the situation, at least in public. My take is that they are allowing the show to go on because they think they are going to unstabilize the Federal governmetn and Trump.

fellow humans - but how does what they are reportedly doing solving
anything?

But what do I think? I think I'm all the way across the country from it (Tennessee) so I don't know the real story. Part of me sees the media blowing it out of proportion, but then again I see it as a chance for the government to 'send in troops' and escalate things. Well, Saturday 6/20 update.. someone was shot and killed inside the 'CHAZ' or 'CHOP'... and the armed gaurds wouldn't let police inside the site to render help for the victim.

So, IMO, and this sucks because... Jesus, give the guy any more firepower to be an idiot... but... send in the support; take that area back over. Now. You don't gotta go home, but you can't stay here...

Long enough. I support and agree that 'black lives matter'... I don't support unlawful takeover of an American city. Done.

It appears that the Mayor's calling for the dissolution of the CHAZ after
that debacle. The ancoms had their time in the sun and they fucked up. Honestly, I don't see why they wouldn't have implemented some kind of
domestic medical response if they were adamant about keeping cops out. But
then again, these are the same people who didn't understand it's common procedure to have authorities clear an area before EMS services can be rendered.
