• The world shudders as Trump pulls US out of climate deal

    From CNN Breaking News@VERT to no-reply@siteservices.cnn.com on Thursday, June 01, 2017 16:29:47
President Donald Trump has announced the US will withdraw from the Paris climate deal[1], sparking intense reaction around the world. Here's what you need to know:

Trump's reasoning: Trump argued that the climate accord was a bad deal[2] for the US and will hurt job growth. This is not true; read our reporting[3].

Renegotiation: Trump said he's interested in renegotiating a new plan[4], but if he can't, "that's fine."

The cost: Scientists say any delay in US efforts to halt greenhouse gas emissions could cost everyone in the long term[5]. The US is the second largest emitter, only behind China, which is staying in the deal.

The future: The vast majority of scientists agree that higher temperatures will cause rising seas, flooded coastal cities, mass extinction, drought, migration crises, deadlier heatwaves, crop failures and stronger storms.

    And now, the response:

o Germany, France and Italy have already dismissed a new deal[6], releasing a statement that flat-out said, "The Paris Agreement can not be renegotiated."

o Elon Musk quit[7] Trump's advisory councils. Other top CEOs found their own ways[8] to tell Trump they think he's wrong.

o Dozens of US mayors pledged immediately to uphold the deal[9]. Pittsburgh's mayor is particularly peeved[10] Trump name-checked his city in the announcement to withdraw.

o Republicans on Capitol Hill largely cheered the move[11]. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell commended Trump, saying he's "once again put families and jobs ahead of left-wing ideology."
o The forecast on Weather.com Thursday was cloudy with a chance of burn[12].

o Former President Obama lamented the decision[13], saying the Paris deal was intended to "protect the world we leave to our children."

o "This is not about whether climate change is occurring or not[14]," EPA chief Scott Pruitt said, but declined to answer further questions about how the US would try to reduce climate change.

o "Apocalyptic[15]," our climate columnist, John D. Sutter, says.

o EU and Chinese leaders banded together[16], vowing to push forward without the US.

o And, in one one of our most-watched videos so far on the announcement, CNN's Fareed Zakaria calls this day "the day that the United States resigned as the leader of the free world[17]."

I dislike trump on so many levels, but this is written from a supposed NEWS NETWORK, are they not supposed to REPORT the News? Not write their opinion peices INTO the same news article? is it that Trump leaves so much fragmentation into what he says that they actually have to add content to make it readable, or is this not a sad ploy to try to "suggest" to someone what they should consider right from wrong.

damn, everything has just went to shit.. I mean everything.. and in no way am I saying it would have been ANY better with that other "choice" we had for our president.

everything is just going to hell.. quickly.. service, media, government, qol, just everyhing.. hell cant even get a burger at the drive-thru anymore without the attendant throwing your bag and change at you and staring silently at you with those "why have you not pulled out" eyes.. if you actually say more than 2-3 words to them after the script ends they must run to their safe spot..

HAHAHA... Sickeniing.. and I was just TRIGGERED by a stupid CNN post.. Imagine that :-)

I blame the constant consumer demand the impatience of said consumers; just the fact that it has become so easy to get what we need here and now, and that is making the demands worse. So, in an effort to meet those demands, two things happen: (1) corners are cut to save time and in an effort to get something out the door NOW; (2) pressure is applied to someone get something done NOW.

Still, peal away the complex layers of actions, and it just comes down to one core issue: selfishness. A good majority (not everyone) of people have some form of selfishness and a lot of us are trying to fight against that. However, there are some that do not bother fighting with it and just embrace it.

That is how it used to be. Forget about it now. The 'C' might as well
stand for "Clinton." We/they can hate on the Russians all they want, but
Putin does have one thing right... the US is stuck right now because one
side is a bunch of sore losers who have to blame their loss on anyone but themselves.

Real simple... they took states for granted, and stopped campaigning in
them, when they should not have. Trump did not stop.

They did the same damn thing when they lost in 2000... cried and blubbered
in the media, blamed everyone but themselves, and tried to split the country. IIRC, what finally made them stop was 9/11. Let's hope it does not take something that drastic to make them pull their heads from their asses this time.

Trump would not be my choice, but he is our President, and I think his
policies would probably beat those of Pence, which is who we get if Trump
is gone. The runner-up in the most-recent election doesn't suddenly become President.

This is true read my reporting ..l. right now we need cheap reliable energy
If we shut down our coal mines, Oil fields and Natural gas wells all that is left is so called green energy that will skyrocket energy cost.
Renegotiation: Trump said he's interested in renegotiating a new plan[4], but
    if he can't, "that's fine."
We should just stay away from any global non sense like the Paris accord.
The cost: Scientists say any delay in US efforts to halt greenhouse gas emissions could cost everyone in the long term[5]. The US is the second largest emitter, only behind China, which is staying in the deal.
How many times have the Scientific world been wrong about shit? alot

The future: The vast majority of scientists agree that higher temperatures will
cause rising seas, flooded coastal cities, mass extinction, drought, migration crises, deadlier heatwaves, crop failures and stronger storms.
Blah Blah Blah more left wing propaganda scare tactics.
They say all this crap with zero proof to back it up.
the USA is already doing more to reduce green house gases than any other country while China ramps up its carbon emissions.
I for one applaud President Trump for standing up to these stupid dicks. Roadhog

I remember that whole ordeal in 2000. Bush had a lead in electorial votes, and Gore had popular votes. Gore had constantly demanded for recounts and the media (both left and right) started that whole "chad" bits: hanging chad and pregnant chad. Hm, the reason why we went with electronic voting machines.

Wait a minute... They also tried to say that the electronic voting machines where hacked... So, I wonder what will they think of next: actually video taping people saying who they vote for?

That is how they went at it then. This time, they had the "Russians"
defense set up before the election was even over. Even if Trump had won by
both counts, they still would be throwing the "Russians" defense at us while ignoring all the blunders they made late in the game. They stopped
campaigning in states they should have had and, IMHO, took for granted the votes of certain demographic groups as "ALWAYS being Democrat votes."

IMHO, they also had the faultly ballot defense ready before the 2000
election was over, too. The format of the ballot is set in most states at
a local level, and the local folks in that part of Florida were all
    Democrats.
