Donald Trump's remaining rivals said at Thursday night's presidential debate[1] that they would support him if he is the eventual nominee, and he said the same about them.

The vow came amid a GOP establishment revolt against Trump, who has threatened the possibility of launching a third-party bid. The candidates met two days after Trump dominated Super Tuesday and with more important contests looming.

In perhaps the most surreal moment[2] yet in a dramatic presidential race, Trump opened the Fox News debate by seemingly boasting about the size of his genitals. He was responding to recent comments from Marco Rubio in which the Florida senator joked about the size of Trump's hands.

Trump fielded attacks from Rubio and Ted Cruz throughout the night. In one exchange, Trump was put on the spot about a recent report from BuzzFeed that indicated Trump was flexible on his immigration policy proposals during an interview with The New York Times editorial board earlier this year.

Trump didn't deny that he may be willing to take a softer stance on deporting the millions of undocumented people living in America, but he insisted that those discussions were off-the-record -- an agreement he said he would "honor."

Trump was also on the defensive for changing his stance on issues like the Iraq War and whether to accept Syrian refugees into America. The real estate developer argued that it is important for leaders to be "flexible."

This gave an opening for Kasich, who has been reticent to attack Trump. "Politicians all the time tell (voters) what they want to hear, and then they go to Washington ... and they don't deliver on those promises," Kasich said.

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders clashed over auto industry bailouts, guns and ties to Wall Street, as underlying tensions in the Democratic presidential race burst into the open at an impassioned CNN debate in Flint[1], Michigan. ÿ
ÿÿ The forum quickly turned into a heated philosophical argument about an economy that Sanders said is weighted against the middle and working classes and is abetted, he said, by close ties between politicians, such as Clinton, and Wall Street financiers.

Sanders accused Clinton of supporting "disastrous" trade policies that contributed to corporate America's decision to move manufacturing from cities like Flint to low-wage economies in Central America and Asia. But she in turn said that Sanders had refused to vote for a bailout for the auto industry.

Clinton also pressed Sanders on guns and accused him of being too close to the National Rifle Association. Sanders replied that Clinton's arguments would amount to a ban on the manufacture of guns.

The debate was followed byÿthe premiere of the CNN original series "Race for the White House." Post-debate analysis was to follow at 11 p.m. ET. Watch CNN.[2]

CNN projects that Ted Cruz will win the Idaho Republican primary[1] on a night when Bernie Sanders' projected upset win in the Michigan Democratic primary delivers a sharp blow to Hillary Clinton's hopes of quickly securing her party's nomination.

Results will come later in Hawaii's Republican caucuses[2].
Sanders' victory, on the eve of the next Democratic debate that will be simulcast on CNN, will send a jolt of new excitement through his campaign and raise fresh questions about Clinton's operation.
The former secretary of state easily beat Sanders in the Mississippi[3] primary, a victory that further extends her control of the South.ÿBut the Michigan[4] results suggest Sanders' message of economic populism will play well in upcoming primaries in Rust Belt states such as Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin.
On the Republican side, Donald Trump's wins in Michigan[5] and Mississippi[6] propel him closer to the GOP presidential nomination.
The contests come on what is being dubbed Super Tuesday 2[7]. Republicans were competing for 150 delegates. Democrats were fighting for 166 delegates in Michigan and Mississippi.

Hillary Clinton will win the Illinois Democratic primary, CNN projects, on a night when she, Donald Trump and John Kasich scored major victories that reshaped the presidential race[1].

A big loss in Florida prompted Marco Rubio to drop his White House bid[2].

Clinton took big strides toward the Democratic nomination by winning Florida and North Carolina. And in a crucial victory, she stopped Bernie Sanders in his tracks in the industrial Midwest by taking Ohio.

The drama is still unfolding in tight races for Democrats and Republicans in Missouri[3].

The Republican Party veered closer to a historic contested convention after Kasich, the Ohio governor, held his own state and deprived Trump of its 66 delegates. That makes it more difficult for the billionaire to reach the 1,237 delegates he needs to capture the GOP prize.
Trump did, however, prevail in the biggest contest of the night, taking all of Florida[4]'s 99 delegates. The real estate tycoon also won primaries in Illinois and North Carolina.
Trump was already looking forward to the general election on Tuesday night as he urged party unity. But in a speech that served as a thinly veiled rebuke of Trump's campaign tactics, Rubio warnedÿthat the politics of division will leave America a "fractured nation."
Sen. Ted Cruz praised Rubio warmly and appealed directly to his supporters: "We welcome you with open arms."

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton notched resounding victories in New York[1], answering questions about their command of the race as the front-runners moved significantly closer to their party's nominations.

Their decisive wins will usher in a new phase in the 2016 presidential campaign. Both Trump and Clinton have fought bitterly for months to keep their rivals at bay, each slogging through primary contests that exposed vulnerabilities in their candidacies and campaigns.

On Tuesday, Trump came close to sweeping New York's 95 delegates[2] -- a development that could help the Manhattan real estate mogul win the GOP nomination outright and avoid what would be aÿmessy contested convention in July. CNN projected Trump will clear the 50% threshold to take all of New York's 14 statewide delegates.

Clinton's win, meanwhile, will go a long way in blunting the momentum of Bernie Sanders -- the liberal Vermont senator whose unexpected popularity has dogged the former secretary of state.

It was a sweet homecoming for the front-runners, who each have deep ties to New York.

Last year, Trump and Clinton -- in wildly different settings -- launched their White House campaigns in New York City. On Tuesday, it was again in Manhattan that both Trump and Clinton confidently declared that they were within reach of the nomination.
