    Telephone providers are not allowed to filter the content of your phone calls based on what is "lawful" or not. This is not the same thing. This is how the U.S. government is getting (more) control over the net.

    When I first saw it, the wording stuck out at me really badly, too. I'm still a dozen messages behind, so this may have already been covered, but I'm guessing that with the careful legaleze that they used that there is some pretty bogus shit hiding in there. :| Can't say I'm surprised. I was hopeful for a bit this morning when I saw that the FCC was 'upholding net neutrality' according to an update to a lame petition that I signed, but those are all political organizations, too... :P
    I hope the whole thing isn't _too_ terribly bad.

    We haven't even *seen* the "careful legaleze" yet. That's a press release. In
    fact, the reason we haven't seen it is apparently because it hasn't been completely written yet.

    I guess in that post I was referring more to the careful wording that came out in CNN's release. I mean, they're just the propaganda arm of the US gubmint anyway... But it left enough room for interpretation that it seemed like maybe there was something they were carefully leaving ambiguous...
