Already I hear noises in the media.
the US are going to have relation with a communist state ! ! !

Funny, isn't it, how we put these labels of utterly unacceptable people that are the face of all that is evil and unamerican, and then when that doesn't work any more we show how hypocritical we truly were? The fact that we will put any face other than pure american on a target in order to mobilize the population behind a target. Whichever neo-con or preceding think tank that it was that stated that a civilization needs an enemy to mobilize behind in order to keep it cohesive needs to be kicked in the nuts, far in the past.
I, personally, think that an amazing goal to inspire and benefit the entire human race would work just as well, if not better, and promote global cohesiveness. Maybe I'm just naive, but has it truly been used and tested as effectively as the centuries/millenia old attempts at using pure fear to motivate and keep a populous together until the system grows so corrupt that it becomes an impetus to keep the population down until the government grows so overgrown and corrupt that it topples under its own weight or the weight of the oppression of the citizenship revolting?

ehhhh? aren't already having relations with China? Vietnam?

    Yep. Hypocritical to the end.

People get all excited because it's going to be a cheap destination for vacation. I would say for the first few years, then it'll get like everywhere else :-)

enjoy it while it last :-)

Christ, I still need to watch/read the Rum Diaries. I'm such a huge
fan of HST and I haven't even gotten my hands on that or seen Where the
    Buffalo Roam yet. I'm a terrible fan-worshipper.

40-something Johnny Depp does a great job of emulating 20-something HST. great read, entertaining movie.

When I get sick of today's politics, I pick up and read "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72", or "Generation of Swine". Makes me realize nothing's new.

He certainly does. I'm glad that he's reached a point now, too, where he's branching out into other roles that are really showing his depth as an actor, too. I think 'El Club Dumas'/The Ninth Gate was the first one that I saw that he really did that with. I'm just a fan all around of his work. He's great, especially when he's tapping into those reserves of insanity.

Hah. The second book I ever read of his was F&L on the Campaign Trail in '72. You're so right about the way everything runs in cycles. You saw the photo of him smoking weed with Clinton, right? Anyway, yeah, especially with the lazer-focus that I got on politics after my 'leaving' the military and subsequent interviews with the secret service; I've researched that shit for a long time and it seems like it's been just as dirty ever since Hoover, in the pre-Jackson years, and probably most of the ones in between, just in easier to hide areas, would be my guess... When it comes to other countries... Well yeah, it's easy to see that humanity's lust for power and dominion has had a GREAT effect on governments. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that only socio & psychopaths were willing to do the nasty things necessary to get on top of the political and power heaps, but that's something we have to transcend as a species, I guess.
It'd be pretty nice if we could stop making targets of people that talk differently or have a different melanin content in their skin, too. I've said it before but words can't express how scared I am for my son's future here. I hope to become an expat to take him to a place with less racism some day, but it is unfortunately not happening any time before I've had an ideal career for probably a half a decade to a whole decade, first. God I still have to finish that post to the person that was telling me that if I didn't like 'murrikkka I should get out... At least they came to the right person. I've had experience in doing that, as well as trying to bring people in, for 9 years now. :P Putting it in non-offensive terms and educating without offense is the problem that holds me back on that.
