    Hello All!

Our government is out of control.
    Check it out:

As part of its mission to protect the Homeland, the DHS has been busy seizing imported vehicles that don't comply with safety and CO2 regulations.

Jennifer and Bill Brinkley were satisfied that their $60,000 dollar purchase of
a Land Rover Defender on eBay complied with regulations because it fell into the exemption category of a vehicle 25 years or older.

However, when DHS agents turned up at the property, they compared the car's Vehicle Identification Number to a list and immediately seized the Land Rover. The couple were not given a chance to debate the issue.

WBTV's Steve Ohnesorge said DHS agents conducted almost like a raid to get the car.

it's just unnerving the way they did it, said Bill Brinkley.

The feds have given the BrinkleyAEs 35 days to appeal the seizure but refuse to
tell them where the vehicle is located. The DHS has also failed to respond to media requests about the incident.

The Department of Homeland Security, created in the aftermath of 9/11, was tasked with the role of protecting America from
terrorists, man-made accidents and natural disasters. However, the DHS has been
turned into a national police force with a remit that extends from seizing websites for copyright infringement to
    confiscating fake NFL merchandise.

Maybe, but not yet as bad as the Alphabet networks. So you don't like NewsMax... ok.. fair enough then debunk the story instead of thumbing your nose
    at newsmax. :)

I disagree with you. It is worse than the alphabet networks, i.e. corporate news media. Newsmax is marginalized for a reason.

I'm not saying it's wrong, or incorrect. Just saying that it is sensationalized and biased, exactly like what you are doing to me right now,
by trying to spin it as a something to be debunked. I never said it was inaccurate; I only said it was sensationalistic and biased. Where did I suggest it was inaccurate?

This article is obiviously repackaged from other sources and spun to make it look like what they want it to look like. The article was reporting on
another news outlet's story. To me, that is weak and unethical journalism.

Newsmax is like all those anti-vaxer's. They can ignore all the evidence to support the position that they are against, and then hone in on the ONE instance where it might some how validate their tiny beliefs, and spin it to get their maximum effect.

Newsmax is synonymous to the Weekly World News.

Unfortunately I think not. Remember the old news axiom, if it bleeds it
leads and that seems to be the way of it. <sigh>

i'm sure if any of us had personal knowledge of a story that was reported in the news, you probably have seen first hand how the news twisted something.

in my own area, we had something recently that made its way to boingboing and other popular websites. it was all bunk. it was sensationalized to the point of being a lie.

    never trust 'the news'

Ummm, actually I do. Some 8 years ago one of my niece's was raped and murdered. The news coverage tore that family apart for awhile.

Yep, it's sad but unfortunately too many news organizations are acting more like National Enquirer scum than actual journalists. :(

    never trust 'the news'

Exactly and trust internet sources even less. :)

When I first started catching wind of the spin that was going on in areas that were blowing up into war, I threw myself inside to find out what was going on. While I believe that this painted a much more accurate picture, through personal interviews and firsthand witnessing of events, I would not recommend it if you want to have a stable, productive, or carefree life. :|

If this were G+, I'd be +1-ing this post right now.

I don't watch the news on TV. It's just a bunch of talking heads, vying for airtime and ratings. Corporate News is the worst. If anybody has an agenda, it's the corporate big-wigs. Feeding the masses the pablum that keeps them happy or enraged is what sells.

Remember, we are all a commoditiy to the corporations.
