Actually, I called every pawn shop in Fort Worth, and I found only 1
gibson. It was a "Custom" and they wanted $3500 for it.
I ended up going to Guitar Center, and buying... an EPIPHONE! lol
I'm really quite pleased with it. It plays better than my uncle's Gibson Custom Deluxe, and it's definately much more cost effective.
I had to spend the extra $100 and get the sunburst finish though!
I'll try and get a picture online sometime soon.

I'm really quite pleased with it. It plays better than my uncle's Gibson Custom Deluxe, and it's definately much more cost effective.

Cool. "Brand New" stuff is nice to get every once in a while too (even thoug it depreciates by 25% the second you walk out the door with it).

push... I wouldn't own one of them. My 25/50 Limited is a one piece...
Neck included. Its hand carved dude... none of this robotic piecemeal
crap they are putting out now. 4 sometimes more pieces "Glued"
together... Blah!
For a while, they even put the 3 piece body together, and then put a
thin top layer over it so people would "Think" it was a one piece, solid body... No, sorry, I love my Gibson's, but I don't like the
Epiphone/Gibson crap.

I've got a collection of guitars... Jackson, Strat, Tele, SG, (2)
L/P's... The stratocaster, I haven't played in ... 20 years? The Telecaster, 19... The Jackson, I play regular, along with the SG and
one Les Paul... the other is the 25/50 Limited and I have played it 5
times in about 20 years... I also have a beater Les Paul Copy, Secovia thing, and a Cortes Fender Strat Copy... those are what I use when I teach... I've given away a Fender Strat, and a couple of other copy
guitars over the years... But I would NEVER give away any of my
Gibsons... Never!
And my son, who's starting to learn to play knows that if he touches any
of the Gibsons he'll come up missing a hand! :)

You'd think. But, alas, I have no recording equipment what so ever. I don't even have a microphone.

I can't sing, but I can play and sing. It comes so natural now, but it was very tough at the time. I'll take vocal lessons one of these days since I'm the one who sings pretty much all the songs in my band :). Might be a good idea.
Why don't you go out and at least get a 100 dollar 4 track? Or some recordi software for the 'puter? Recording is fun and then you get to see how reall terrible you are (or at least in my case, from what you've posted I bet you shred the guitar).
I got a few cheap mics from Musician's Friend a while back... They were some cheap Nady's that were on sale. I think after allw as said and done, the mic+cable+stand was about $29 each. I've mic'ed a guitar cab with one of the before, with fairly decent results. I have a case full of mics, and one day going to get around to trying them all out to see which sound best on guitar
Yea, I got a few of those cheapies too. But you can really tell the differe in mics, I mean I guess that goes with everything, but mics you can really tell.

I used to love playing the Les Paul's! The standards are beautiful with a great sound! That's all I played for a number of years, until about 5 years ago I had a guitar custom built for me by Jacobson Guitars (A 1 man outfit i hastings ontario) and I sold everthing else. The amazing thing is the price tag was only $180!

Thanks. I'll go to the local shoppe here and try out the Epiphone. I alway equated the name Epiphone with lower end because they have cheapy versions o it.

I still can't believe how happy I am with a simple, fairly cheap
Samick. Maybe it's the setup they gave it at the shop, but I swear it's
a close call whether it matches and even surpasses the sound of my

The cheapest I had was almost $2,000. Most expensive was $5000. But
I have to say, they were worth every penny. Of all my guitars, the LP's
are the most played by far. Just the tone, and gut kick blow everything else away.
I'm not familiar with the pickup's they are using, but I always ended up replacing the standard pickups with Humbuckers... So to start out with
them is an advantage. :)
Getting a nice hard shell case with it is a plus also.
Seriously, I don't think you could do any better for that price. Hell, you'd better buy it before I do! :) I don't have a faded cherry
colored one... I've owned at one time or another a Gold metal flake,
Sun Burst, Black, and a Reverse Sun Burst. I'm thinkin' that faded
Cherry would fit right in my collection. :)
