  • Multi-track music software

    In searching for some good multi-track music recording software, I recently came across Acoustica Mixcraft 5:

    I recently bought a copy, and I'm fairly impressed with it. It has ease of use comparable to Apple's Garage Band, but is available for Windows. Similar to Garage Band, it includes virtual MIDI instruments and allows recording & mixing of both virtual MIDI instruments and audio tracks. I'm excited about using it more. :)

    Cool, I've not heard of this one, but I'll definitely check it out, thanks for the tip. These days I'm using StudioOne however it's moreso out of the fact that I've got a paid copy of it rather than anything else.

    I have been using acoustica products for over 10 years (they had a wav to MP3 converter or something I bought).

    Anyway, the mixcraft product is excellent. My daughter has started using it to make music on her own. I wish I had something like that when I was her age.

    If you have a Mac like I do, use Garageband or Logic Pro. They're the most popular software. Enigma (Michael Cretu) used to use Logic Pro for his
    albums.

    I haven't recorded much music (mostly due to lack of decent equipment, I guess, because I'm a musician,) but I was taught, and used Adobe
    Audition as my first job, being the volunteer Producer at a local radio station. So I've mostly used it to record advertising, but I really
    liked it, and would recommend it for anything.

    While I'm here, they had a nice setup, too. I forget the model names,
    but they had a soundcard with four XLR inputs that ran to a small
    Behringer (I think,) mixer. It was worth about $500. I was considering
    buying them for myself, for a while, but I rarely had any money back then.
