Thanks, I added a timeout the other day and I think I was sleeping a bit long between reading characters, so I've reduced it. Hopefully will work better
now.

Otherwise, it's probably some connection problem.

Thanks, I added a timeout the other day and I think I was sleeping a bit long between reading characters, so I've reduced it. Hopefully will work better now.

I noticed the same lag the other day. It almost seems like you might be running a Virtual Machine with a poorly emulated network controller. True?

I had a similar problem with Virtualbox using a WinXP Guest OS, had to install the VirtIO drivers to fix.

No, it's not running in a virtual machine. I think I've fixed the lag now, it was after you logged in and Mro mentioned it. I think the problem was I sleep between reading characters (non-blocking) so that it doesn't take up 100% cpu but I was sleeping for 100 milliseconds which was noticable so I changed it to 10 milliseconds.

If there is still lag, I'd say it's because I'm in Australia. I'm typing this about 100Kms from the BBS (I'm in brisbane atm BBS is in Toowoomba) and not noticing any lag.

Ah, I had no idea. You should advertise that. ;) In that case the lag isn't that bad. The ship trading game is pretty cool too, easy to play, and speaks to my inner stock trader. (buy! Sell! BUY damn yOU!)
